Don't make salvation harder than it should be. Go read the the Gospel of Luke, 23rd chapter, the account of Christ'a crucifixion. Pay attention to the exchange with the good thief and bad thief. That thief had probably lived his whole life as an evil-doer and thief. Never set foot in the temple to worship probably, never read any scriptures of Moses and the laws of God. He knew nothing about religion, or God or commandments. But in the last hour of his life, he met Christ. He exchanged ONE line of conversation with Him...and that was enough.
You're already my favorite poster here. Welcome.

Yeah but the thief probably knew he was a crap person. I'm asking about the people who are believers and don't even realize how crappy they are and never do. Or does it not matter? The faith vs works thing always confused me.

I saw a headline saying Beck threw 3 INTs in the first scrimmage.

Also threw 3 TDs. Not sure what to make of that. Apparently Lawson Luckie looked awesome. Daylen Everette and Bullard had picks.
I can’t remember the name but one of the beat guys said something interesting regarding the QB battle. Gunnar is basically out this year. Monken and by proxy Bobo run a super complex offense, so Beck and VG already having multiple years on him is an unfair advantage. He basically said Beck was getting better but has been and probably always will be to some extent, streaky as hell. They said if he’s having a good day he’s a heisman contender, but on a bad day he’s not D1 (at least in the past this was the case) because he tended to press hard and compound situations trying to fix them and making them worse. Ie multiple picks and missing easy throws in his own head.
That said, he is getting better at that and he does have the most command of the offense in general, so if Vandagriff doesn’t win the job the coaches will still be confident that Beck can succeed. But apparently Vandagriff is who the coaches would prefer win the job based on his mobility. Apparently his Prince Ave teams ran like 20 plays so his first couple years his head was absolutely spinning just trying to learn the playbook (and don’t forget, we overhauled his throwing motion too). But now he’s coming on really strong and picking things up quicker.
I’ll feel good either way, but this confirms what I think most of us already thought which is that it’s a very open competition with Beck basically in the lead by default, and while he’s getting better himself, Vandagriff is hot in his heels. It could genuinely be a battle to September 3 and beyond (though I’d prefer that not be the case)

If the guys aren't comprehending the playbook then the playbook is too complicated. I thought we learned this lesson with Todd Grantham.

I don’t necessarily disagree, but I’m not Kirby or Bobo.

Maybe it's one of those coaching/teaching tactics where you scramble their brain and then the actual gameplan on gameday is simplified and they are masters of it.
Like training for a marathon but when you show up to the race it's only a 4k.
Or like when doctors say medical school is 10x harder than actually practicing medicine.

I've spent a lifetime pastoring, teaching in a seminary and now being a chaplain among other things. I'm not trying to say I'm a walking reservoir of knowledge in the Bible, but I try to help folks with questions, when I can. It's my calling. I can't rebuild engines or build houses, but I've studied the Word my whole life.

Sounds like you have some pretty deep questions that are troubling you. Perhaps I could shoot you a private message or something so we could talk in more detail?

It just occured to me-
Assuming the scrimmage was Saturday, there was a wind advisory, the winds were howling. My kid's birthday party was at a park and the winds were blowing shite everywhere. Even playing cornhole the bags were being blown several feet off track.
Assuming the QB's were playing in these same conditions, I don't blame any of them for having a shitty day.

I haven’t been to any particularly windy games at Sanford. I wonder if it has a wind tunnel effect or if it negates it

Never left. Participated in every game thread this year and when it looked bad I bitched about, when things looked good I praised the team. Like any normal non sunshine pumper would do.

Not troubled. Just curious. Thanks anyway.

'troubled' was the wrong word perhaps, I apologize. If you have any questions, I would be glad to give you my take on them.

Finley, I think you should update your avatar. I would find it hilarious if you stole Flexdawg's avatar. That would be incredibly zany.

Symbolic of the common man and his plight. All taken down as a warning not only to not fly too close to the sun…don’t even look up and pretend you know what’s going on.
Or…maybe they were just all gingers. Idk. It’s a deeprig riddle so it could really go anywhere.
