Why is it that Bama seems to have elite QBs year after year and we don’t? How much better would we do with a Mac Jones, Tua or Brice?

JT Daniels is not elite.

I think it has more to do with their system, it's almost fun N gun style since Hurts started there. That plus they have stacked elite talent and depth at WR. Hard to cover one good WR, much less 3.

Young is also very good and didn't miss anything yesterday.

Eason, fields, and Daniels are a more elite group than fromm, mathis, and stetson.

The first group may not all be otherworldy talents like bamna's group but they're better than what we've trotted out.

As for why? Well, saban has shown taht their offense is explosive and high flying and that they will ride their stud WRs and feed them the ball at will and try to score as much as possible. Whereas we've shown that when we have stud WRs they have to block first and may get a handful of targets a game while we prefer to ground and pound since we prefer to manage a game instead of put the ball in the endzone as much as possible.

It is what it is

But at least there was the possibility, had he been healthy and played this season. There were plenty of scouts who had him high on NFL lists coming into this season.

True, but Kirby recruits at the same high level. We have some great receivers and TEs too.

On many people’s pre-season Heisman list

Yeah if hype and potential is what you look for and not on field production then yeah JT could be considered a better option. Unfortunately he is made of glass and/or a mental midget.

were you in a covid-induced ventilator coma last year? We've seen JT on the field and he's exponentially better than stetson. Stetson is more mobile and will get you 30 yards rushing in scramble yards a game that JT dfeinitely will not. JT will also read the field better, make better passes, hit receivers in stride, and open up the passing game considerably for the run game.

You clearly don't know much about him. The injuries have been unfortunate and whether he's "injury prone" or what, I can't say. But for the mental aspect, you're off base. It's the opposite. His ability to understand an offense, process info, and make reads, is very high. This has been commented on by people who coached him at all levels. He's also known to be extremely invested and studies tape like a pro. Whatever the issues might be, they are not about intelligence.

Someone needs to tell Stetson. He never looks past Bowers.

This is not about Stetson or JT. But rather the level of QB play that is needed to get over Bama. Think Trevor Lawrence or Burrow. That’s how we get over the Bama hump.

He beat shite SEC teams and a group of 5 team. He looked like trash against the only team with a defense he has played and led us to 3 points.

For some reason he has been built into this world beater QB. Oh and he can't stay fricking healthy so again, does it matter how good he could be if he can't stay on the field?

I mean do you blame him? Throwing to Brock works out pretty well most of the time. AD is good but has some brain farts, Kearis has been a disappointment, Arian hurt, Burton hurt, Pickens hurt.

I mean I think you can safely say he is injury prone. No need to side step that issue.

Mental midget in the terms that he can't get over the injury or doesn't have confidence in himself. I understand he is a cerebral QB.

Obviously I'm talking out of my arse here, but I wonder if his mentor/shrink guy passing away has affected him more than anyone realizes. He was apparently pretty close to him.

Kirby needs to bring in a QB whisperer. Monken is a good OC, but not a QB guru. We have two very good QB's in BVG and Gunner, just need someone to coach 'em up.
