#2 was not Champ Bailey, it was Tim Jennings.

SEC offenses now are also much, much better than they were in 2001-2004. No one remembers just how much better the league has gotten over the past 10 years. The 2003 Ole Miss offense, which was very good and probably the best in the league that year, would be no better than average today. BVG had some great defenses, but his job was much easier than Grantham's is now.

Just did the research. Our record in the BVG era that the offense scored 20 points:
01: 8-0
02: 11-0
03: 10-0
04: 10-0
So under BVG's watch, we are a perfect 39-0 when we put up 20 points on the scoreboard. That's fricking incredible. Going further, we had 10 losses during those 4 years. In those 10 losses, the offense scored:
9,10,17,16,13,10,13,13,14,6
Ya know, now that I look back on these numbers, it's entirely possible that Richt wouldn't even be coaching at UGA right now if it weren't for VanGorder.
As a little comparison, in Saban's first 4 years at bama, here's his record when scoring 20 points
07: 7-2
08: 11-1
09: 13-0
10: 10-3
Not bad, that works out to 87% of the time compared to BVG's 100% of the time. Also keep in mind that during this time span, alabama has had a heisman trophy winner plus trent richardson in the backfield, as well as maybe the best receiver in alabama history, in addition to some of the best OLs in their history to put points up and help out the defense.
BVG had a good offense to help him out, but not as good as bama's. I really think BVG is underrated as frick

Well, what's your response? Erk head butted people and bled, ok...gimme some facts.
And btw I didn't say "BVG is the best we've had". I said if an impartial observer wanted to, you could make a case. Erk was the reason behind the Junkyard Dawg defenses of the 70s and 80s, I know that. He was undoubtedly the best motivator we ever had. But you can't argue with the numbers BVG put up.
