Yeah. AR15 being a filthy mud lizard notwithstanding, I don't get the fawning adoration for this guy.

Was our defense that stifling that #4 overall looked less than pedestrian in the face of the Dawgs' D?

It's a scathing indictment of how little the NFL values Mullen or Napier's ability to develop a QB. They couldn't do anything with him, but that doesn't matter because they fricking suck. We can do it better. While many Florida fans may be celebrating over their high draft pick, it's actually a really really bad look.

He is most definitely not. I feel very confident after watching him in four games that he is not a difference maker.

I'll just put it like this:

I didn't see anything in 4 games to tell me that he isn't the guy and can't play. And the Falcons are putting all of their chips in the Ridder basket w/Pitts, London, Robinson, and Patterson.

You can't tell anything either way. Like I said on the MSB last night, I think Ridder is gonna make a lot of people look really, really stupid.

I have always thought that "positional value" in terms of draft capital is overrated. If you value a guy and he is your guy and he fits your system, then take him and get your guy. And Robinson obviously fit Smith's system to a T.

He was also the consensus top-offensive player on the board. Top -5 talent overall.

Where do you see the Falcons ranking in the 2023 NFL season for scoring?

They'll be top 8-10 in the League.

Lol

Then you entirely miss the point of a draft where your team has the ability to manipulate your position up or down.

Why take a guy at 9 when you can trade down (get more picks) and take a guy at 17?

Your premise is scary if it actually has merit in an NFL front office.

But he was not a consensus top 10 draft pick.
NFL Nation had him going 14th.
CBS Sports had him 23rd.
Peter Schrager (nfl.com) had him 23rd.
The Ringer had the falcons at 8.

If you can get him later, why wouldn't you?

The Lions picked Gibbs 12th. Hard to believe they wouldn’t have picked Bijan before Gibbs.

I don’t like taking an RB in the top 10, but if it’s your guy, you gotta trust it and pick him.

the overarching point here is that no RB should've been the falcons guy with their first pick.

I'm not disparging BR at all, the guy is obviously a stud and is going to be great. The problem is that the falcons are woefully bad on defense and have been forever and could have addressed that hugely in any number of different ways but chose to instead draft a position that 1)has an extremely short shelf life 2)is actually already pretty decent on their current roster. It's just insane.

And before steelersbraves mentions it, no the falcons additions in FA don't address the glaring defensive needs they ahve. Sure they HELP, but they need a bonafide top 10-caliber DL or edge rusher, several of which were available.

Also I'm not even a falcons fan! So I'm not saying all this as a scorned fanatic that keeps getting burnt. The thing is I WANT to pull for the falcons but they make it so incredibly difficult year after year with utterly stupid draft decisions.

I think your points totally fair. I was moreso responding to the point that he’d be there later. I would have picked Jalen. Give me more great DL.

It takes two to trade maybe there wasn’t a partner there? The falcons probably could have traded with the eagles but were they certain the eagles wouldn’t take Robinson? And all the eagles gave up was a 4th to move up to get Jalen Carter hardly worth the risk if BR is your guy IMO. Look I wanted the falcons to take Carter or trade down but in the end I’m ecstatic they got BR

I keep seeing "BR" is the guy.

Running back and linebacker are the most overvalued positions in the NFL. By that, the drop to 2nd or 3rd round is not some insurmountable exchange.

Algier was a 5th round pick.
Austin Ekeler was a UDFA.

These aren't secrets about production and draft value.

Christian McCaffrey was the #8 pick in the draft. Is BR McCaffrey?

Robinson is not 2 full rounds better than Zach Charbonnet or Devon Achane

Possibly yes . He runs routes like a receiver. In fact I’m sure we will see him on the field with Algiers lined up in the slot at times.

You do know that the panthers just got rid of McCaffery for a 2nd round pick to replace his production?

Falcons gonna take a Tech guy and piss everyone off lol

Nvm. Trade up and take a guard. While a need, still not addressing the defense is wild to me.

Tyrique Stevenson picked in round 2.

Dude missed out on 2 natties to play for a couple of terrible Miami teams but at least he got drafted fairly high.

Something has to be going on with Washington. It's now 5 TE's selected and he's still on the board.
