They finally made it through the fence to the other yard. Only to find the grass isn't all that green. In what was probably our best recruiting year in our history most of you wanted our HC fired. You got your wish.
Best class in our history? First off, you do realize that signing day is in Feb and it is only mid Dec right? Thus far we have lost two 3 star prospects in the class. One of which was injured most of the season. For all we know KS told them to look elsewhere. Regardless, the previous HC proved that he could have all world talent and end up middle of the SEC over and over. UGA will always have talent. Ray F'ing Goff signed the #1 class in the country (zeier, hearst, hastings, etc) for fricks sake.

No, done of us are upset that Cochran isn't coming. My don't think that's unreasonable.

Just FYI, Zeier was one year after Hearst and Hastings, but yeah...great recruiter nonetheless, always had plenty of talent.

The only thing I don't get is we all agreed that last year was the first year the UGA athletics program opened up the purse strings and really started investing back into facilities and coaching salaries. And we fired the guy that got us to this point. I agree we needed change but just maybe we rushed this thing a little bit.
I do have faith in Kirby tho and I'm excited to see what UGA football can become. But I also felt that Richt could get us to the point we want Kirby to get us to.

From what I understand Cochran doesn't even work hands on as much as he used to with the players on strength.
I teach Sunday school with a guy who played at App State and roomed with the assistant strength coach Jeff Dillman. Jeff and him are best friends were in each others weddings. He has talked to him a lot recently and said there was a lot he didn't really know would happen. Said he was offered the job at SC and hadn't taken it because the Cochran thing was in the air.
If Chocran had gone to UGA he would have been given the Alabama job now he has been contacted by Kirby but might end up at SC bc he had such a good relationship with WM at UF.
Cochran is a great strength coach but apparently doesn't really do hands on anymore Jeff was running everything and Cochran was just kind of an administrator in the system. This may be good for us bc Jeff says Mark is an amazing coach and thinks he will end up better than Cochran one day. So don't be as bummed out about missing on Chocran we can save money and get someone else on the offensive side of the ball.

Absolutely.
But whether KS is the right guy remains to be seen. I think hiring this fat frick at OC really threw everyone for a loop. We already were banking on recruiting setbacks so we really can't melt too hard over that.
Exactly. I think that is neglected. There's regretting firing Richt and then there is potential regret for his replacement. I am not at all suggesting Kirby has lost my faith or should have lost anyones but down the road people need to get that from here on it isn't letting RIcht go that was a mistake. This program needed to move on.

Let's just hope that Kirbys quote about taking help from Dan Quinn is done with a grain of salt

Whoa, just chill. It's December 14. We're 8 days into officially having Kirby Smart as the head coach, 2 months from national signing day, and over 9 months away from seeing the kind of product that CKS will put on the field. Lets not overreact to every coaching hire/not hire, high school commit/decommit
I think "sets us back 3 years" is not the best choice of words. Where would we be with Richt 3 years from now that Kirby can't take the program? What reasoning is there to believe that the 8 days of the Smart era would lead anyone to believe that? Not happy with the OC hire? Well if Richt is still the guy then we would have the same OC in 2016 and possibly 2017 too. Recruiting? Maybe the '15 class doesn't end up being quite as good as it was headed with Richt. It will still be very good though, and it's not like the results were mind blowing in other instances where the previous regime pulled in fantastic classes. We didn't steal the Strength and Conditioning coordinator from Alabama? We weren't going to have him with Richt either. I know you said you have faith in Kirby, but my point is just that nothing we have seen so far is really reaction worthy, and comparatively speaking nothing is any worse than where we were headed with Richt except recruiting. Even that projects to take only a minor hit.

I think this sets up back at least 3 years,
Sets us back from what exactly?
Haven't won the SEC in a decade, barely peeking into the top 25 (25 in coaches poll only), didn't beat a team with a winning record this year, Bama and Fla hand us our arse?
Come on, change was needed. Even Richt admits that now. Do I like how all of this is coming down? No, I have some issues with it. Losing some recruits is a certainty with a change this big. Eason may go to Fla too.
Is Kirby Smart the person to lead this program forward to higher achievements? I think he could be. We'll see, but we have to try.
Not winning the east, not beating a team with a winning record, and getting killed by Bama and Fla could be accomplished by anyone. Ga Southern was as good a football team as we were after regulation for goodness sakes.
Please don't long to for those days.

Dayum People, let's give this thing a chance please. Kirby Smart was so emotional during his Press-Conference,and he said this was his Dream Job,so that tell's Me he is going to put his Heart and Soul into everything he has with this new Job.He's a Pure Bred Dawg Through and Through.Give it time,I promise he will come through. Hell we just landed the Nation's #1 Player for 2017,and he said the Main Reason he chose UGA,was because of CKS
