Class distribution
FWIW, the rant likes to poke holes at the 2018 class. The strength of a class is in who is here to produce. Imo, we are pretty damn strong with upperclass leadership in 2020.

Here is a class distribution of our contributors for 2020.

(too long: here's the summary)
I count 20 starters from the 2016 to 2018 classes (includes punter and specialty positions like sam linebacker and nickel defender).

4 of those upperclassmen were rated .9900 or higher
10 upperclassmen were rated .9800 or higher
11 upperclassmen were rated .9700 or higher
13 upperclassmen were rated .9600 or higher
16 upperclassmen were rated .9500 or higher
18 upperclassmen were rated .9400 or higher

That is a formula for success in 2020 if we can just have a season.
Having a 5th year QB is a luxury that most people under-appreciate.

re: Class distribution
2017
Richard Lecounte .9876 hs rating. Starter S
Netori Johnson .9588 hs rating. Could be offense or defense this season (I'd guess 2nd string NT or 2nd/3rd string guard).
Robert Beal .9498 hs rating. Depth OLB
Mark Webb .9387 hs rating. Starter Dime (rotational nickel)
Malik Herring .9345 hs rating. Starter DE
Nate McBride .931 hs rating. Depth ILB
William Poole .9224 hs rating. Depth nickel/dime
Walter Grant .9217 hs rating. Starter Sam (we rarely use a traditional Sam. I think grant started 3 or 4 games in 2019 due to the style of opponent).
D'Marcus Hayes .895 hs rating. depth OT
Trey Blount .8919 hs rating. depth WR
Monty Rice .8906 hs rating. starter ILB
Ameer Speed .8873 hs rating. depth DB
Justin Shaffer .8828 hs rating. starter LG
Latavious Brini .8681 hs rating. depth DB
Eric Stokes .8578 hs rating. starter CB
Matt Landers .857 hs rating. depth wr
Tre' McKitty. .89 transfer rating. starter TE.

8 starters
Mostly depth players but about 2 or 3 who could be key 2nd stringers (Johnson at NT, Poole at dime, Blount at WR)

1 player over .9800 rating
2 players over .9500 rating
3 players over .9400 rating

re: Class distribution
2020
In summary:
4 players rated .9900 or better
6 players rated .9800 or better
9 players rated .9700 or better
10 players rated .9600 or better
11 players rated .9500 or better
12 players rated .9400 or better

Just about every one of those .9400 or better could break into a rotation (DL, LB, nickel/dime, WR, RB) by seasons end.
I wouldn't be shocked to see Darnell Washington or Kendall Milton grab a starter 1A spot by season's end, either.

re: Class distribution
The 2018 class lost a few high profile guys so other fans assume/hope it completely fell apart. It had so much star power that there is still a lot left, despite some departures.
