I'm not predicting a huge early lead. That hasn't been our team this season (lack of focus, discipline, etc..)
But it sure would be nice at this time of the season to cut the mental mistakes and to put up a big score early.
Let Zeus and Cook eat. They arent better than Swift/Herrien. But they won't get better unless they can get their reps.

Agreed. I put in the early effort in the morning cold for the tailgate. Let’s hope the Dawgs kick in early too. Whip them by halftime

Big lead early, a cold night game against a Big 8 school, and the stands will be half empty in the third quarter.

I'd like to see more playing time for all the backups. The transfer portal starts looking good for guys who don't get to play. As for Zamir, he runs as hard as any RB on the roster. One carry in each of the last two games is pretty sparse. I hope we don't end up just getting one good year out of him before he turns pro.

I like Zamir, too, and think he could be an excellent back. He is averaging 2.5 carries a game fewer than Herrien, so that is not a huge concern to me. Also, I suspect the coaches are taking it easy on him because of his injury history. They want to make sure he is fully recovered before they stress him out physically. (Just a guess, though)
If we only get one good year out of him blame the injuries, not the coaches. With his injury history, I suspect he will want to get a couple of injury free years behind him before turning pro, though. We'll see.

Transferring isn’t always about not getting PT today. It also has to do with not getting PT next season. With BH leaving and likely Swift, too, there’s no reason for our RBs to try to transfer, at least not Zeus or Cook.

Exactly.

I wasn't talking about White transferring, never assumed he would. Cook will probably think about it and I don't really care except for depth purposes; I'm not as enamored with his RB skills, or at least his utility as a RB in our offense, as most seem to be.

I'm sure transfer decisions are affected by both, depending on the player's situation. An important part of every team's depth chart is made up of players who are most likely perennial backups. That's easier to tolerate if they feel like they're at least contributing and getting frequent opportunities to improve and impress the coaches. I'd guess we have several who are not happy with their playing time this season and it will most likely impact some decisions and our future depth.
