Dasher has said from teh get go that Hunter is an NOT option on our radar. No idea why but he's been adamant about that.

If both Dash and Klein are putting his name out there, then there is definitely legs to it. They just don't throw stuff out there for clicks.

Don't know how I feel about Hunter. Kinda ambivalent TBH.

So from your post earlier, is it sounding like a possible "two-fer" could happen with McMahon and Hayes both coming in with McMahon being HC and Hayes being AHC?

I'm not counting on the latter though I wouldn't be against it just for the recruiting connections alone.

And it definitely sounds like McMahon is the front-runner IMO. You don't look at real estate and scout schools in Greater Athens if there isn't mutual interest.

Heard we reached out to Scott Drew. That would be beyond a homerun hire.

But have we reached out to Pitino?

I'm sure we haven't and won't.

He's 70 years old. And while I personally DGAF about his morals or whatever, Im guessing our AD is going to look at someone with a cleaner record.

And he's 70.

You're gonna be disappointed when Matt Mcmahon or someone else is introduced in a couple of weeks, then.

DawgSports has learned that Hayes has already interviewed for the job, confirming a report by Dawgs247 earlier this evening. Sources close to the situation confirmed that UGA has discussed trying to bring Hayes back to Athens if he isn’t chosen for the job. Hayes has deep ties to AAU and high-school programs across the state, and he would be a valuable to a new staff’s recruiting efforts in Atlanta.

If Brooks manages to secure a quality HC candidate like McMahon (or some of the other candidates) *and* is able to figure out a way to bring in Jonas as AHC, that would be elite AD work right there.

Agreed.

And it'd be worth it just to see L&H melt that we should of hired Pitino.

It appears gathering info from any source I could dig up… Hayes, Gates, McMahon, and Drew are the top candidates with a few other mid major coaches. The other mid major coaches aren’t appealing at all. The Providence HC couldn’t win here either.

I think McMahon is the #1 target right now I think. Him and his wife were looking at real estate and scouting schools in the Greater Athens area w/in the last couple of weeks. So the interest is mutual.

I still believe Gates & Hayes lead the pack… but I certainly hope it’s not either one of them. Hayes as an associate HC is fine… but HC… Idk…
