Funny George Foster story. The week after the Florida game in 2002, when he bellied flopped on a UF d lineman and cost us a FG, I was jogging down Lumpkin early in the morning before down. I see this slow moving F150 driving towards me. As I got closer, it was Mark Richt driving it and George Foster jogging on the sidewalk as CMR yelled at him to run faster.

Stupidest penalty in history of GA football

Saw Terrance Edwards on north campus that monday morning and he couldn't even look me in the eyes. That dude took a thrashing from the fans that week.

On a completely, uhhhh, unrelated note, one positive of NIL is less worries of the gamblers influencing players on field performance

2015 Throwback: Terrence Edwards looks back at a storied UGA career
quote:

A lot of people when they hear my name the first thing they think about is one dropped pass against Florida,” Edwards told the AJC’s DawgNation.com. “They don’t think about the records I set. They don’t really remember all the good things.”

Terrence Edwards is the only 1,000-yard receiver in UGA history. (T. Levette Bagwell / AJC)/Dawgnation)
Edwards was wide open but dropped a key pass against Florida in 2002. If he snares that ball, it is no stretch to say UGA goes on to win that game. That night in Jacksonville would be the only loss of an SEC championship season for a squad which finished with the No. 3 ranking.

He said he took his eyes off the ball and just didn’t squeeze it. It was a ball he knows he can catch 99 out of 100 times. Edwards said the drop still bothered him even after he left UGA.

Nobody even remembers that the drop came while UGA was leading the game. Memories are fickle like that. Ask a die-hard about Michael Johnson. That catch against Auburn is their reply. History doesn’t preserve the fact Johnson also caught 12 other balls prior to his game-winning catch that night.

Fan backlash was so polarizing over that drop by Edwards that a group of UGA fans from South Georgia saw fit to place a billboard in his hometown thanking him for his career. It labeled him as the No. 1 receiver in team history.

I personally know one Frat dude who was a kingpin frathouse bookie. I think his Dad was a real deal bookie. He tried to buy us drinks and get info from us on injuries and if we thought we were gonna be able to score a lot and our scouting of the opposing team, etc. I heard second hand there were offers to influence spread. Apparently this was not new or unique. That’s all I am going to say about that.

There were so many other plays that could have turned that game. Foster's penalty, Pollack's forward lateral to Sean Jones, 0 fer on third downs, DJ' pick six. To blame him for that loss is just lazy.

Just glad that social media wasn't around back then. Wouldn't have been great.

I would say that 1/13 on third downs is what killed us.
