Hopefully the drama is over with now that he'll be closer to home and he's had a year under his belt at the D1 level.

I agree. And even if not, it was still worth taking a shot, with his potential. Even if not for this year, but for the next and possibly next. In this day and age you don't just let 5*'s walk because of issues, until you've exhausted all avenues to help them. LSU hadn't even given up on him. And the story that he couldn't qualify at Florida is also bullshite. Gilbert announced he was transferring to Florida, then changed his mind and stayed at LSU. It's not like he was some poor puppy on the cold streets without a home, nobody wanted him, and Kriby got suckered into bringing him in. He was a highly sought after guy. Make no mistake, Florida wanted him. Makes no mistake, LSU wanted him. Make no mistake, many schools wanted him.

Kirby got him, and likely the proximity to home was the deal maker.

It was said on the DN podcast the other day too, that it’s highly unlikely we get him if Pickens doesn’t go down with his injury.

If he works out, great. However, it's not like we didn't just have an example of how awesome it is to get a highly coveted guy who's changed his mind about schools a couple of times.

Dan Mullen would have crawled over broken glass to land this guy.
