re: 2022 Diamond Dawgs / 36-23 (15-16) / Season ends in the Chapel Hill Regional

Some additional insights:

- We have 3 losses on the year, 2 to Tech and 1 to Southern
- Southern is sitting at 13-6 having won its last 6 games since losing to us in Statesboro. We have a rubber match with them in 2 weeks.
- Tech is 14-5 and just lost its first series of the year to Wake Forest yesterday.
- Of our other opponents, Albany is 11-5 (lost 3 to us), Wofford is 12-8 (lost 2 to us), Akron is 4-12 (lost 3 to us), Lipscomb is 10-9 (lost 3 to us), and SC-Upstate is 13-6 (lost 1 to us)
- Combined with MSU, that’s an opponent record of 88-60 (.600 w%) of which we account for 16 of those losses (27%)

2-1 good Dawgs headed to top of 3rd

Game is on SEC Network (not plus) for any of those games that don’t look at updated thread title

With these two pitching staffs, I’m guessing we are looking at another game with 8+ runs each team lol

That was the only Stolen Base attempt of the series so far too

First outing for Pearson this weekend and gets rocked

Yet another sophomore arm who did reasonably well last year, considering, and who has regressed this season.

Pearson gives up two singles and a double in a 4 run swing. All with 2 out.

5-3 Bizarro Dawgs in the 4th and Bearden just hit a batter It’s his first pitch

Up there with the most missed pitches in a 5 pitch outing I’ve ever seen

So Dawgs give up the lead on a 0 ER inning with absolutely horrific pitching

Meanwhile - Miss State pitcher has given up 8 hits on 70+ pitches and in a jam here, but still no one up in the pen for MSU

Not that this excuses anything but this ump has a strike zone the size of a small ziploc bag. Both sides have seen pitchers start to walk off the mound after pitches and not get calls
