I see Hayes as being a vast improvement over Catalina. Catalina attended Rhode Island out of high school, excelled against weak competition, graduated, then transferred.

I understand this, but have you looked at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College's schedule? I would be willing to bet Rhode Island played a tougher schedule. And that is what I am saying. We won't know until we see them in action. I hope you guys are all right. I just know how psyched we all were about Catalina. And Catalina was recruited by Auburn and some other big schools, so it isn't as if we just miscalculated and took a flyer on him. A LOT of people thought he was going to be really, really good.

Yes, but what I'm saying is that Catalina had offers from places like Rhode Island, and Hayes had offers from places like Louisville. They've ALWAYS been on two different levels athletically.

Rhode Island prepares kids to play a Rhode Island Schedule, MGCCC literally exists to prepare SEC and ACC athletes that didn't make the grades. I'm not saying Hayes played better teams, but simply that those two institutions have two completely different ends in mind. Rhode Island just wants to dominate the Northeastern American Junior Football Conference.

I am not disagreeing with you and furthermore, I don't know enough about interior OL play to even debate it. (I'm calling tackles interior linemen here)

What frustrates me is that if you're right (i.e. Catalina is good) and everyone else is right about Pittman being one of the best O Line coaches in CFB, then how can we possibly explain his play this year. I don't get it.

And that's a good point. Like I said. i hope you guys are right. I hope I didn't derail the recruiting thread too much, although, I do consider this a legitimate recruiting topic.

I think a lot of everybody;s frustration this past season (Mine included) was due, a lot, to our own high expectations. We had a good recruiting class...got a great, young new coach, etc and we fell flat. This year should be a better indicator of what this team and coaching staff is capable of.

Javier Arenas and Cyrus Jones who were both good corners and returners at bama couldn't have been hardly any bigger than jamayest.

I think Arenas was like 5'9" and Jones is 5'10". Jamyest is likely closer to 5'7".

I think it's reasonable to be expect to be able to run the football against a team like Nicholls.

Not sure if it was different personnel, or a new blocking scheme, or something else, but there were definitely some real issues in the running game. Luckily, we were able to improve as the season went along.

Get the boy in, let him return from day 1, give him a shot to beat out Gibbs and Bishop and Poole. If he does, he deserves it. If not, tell him his best path to playing time is on O and get that kid in the slot.

Regardless of height, dude is a good football player and would find ways to bite our arse if he plays for Usce. I'd rather have him in our team

Yeah, I think there is a big difference.
Like I said earlier...Jamyest might turn out to be the next Honey badger, but we seem to want to go for bigger, more physical DB's....and for good reason. His size just scares me, to be honest.

I know he's a good football player, but if he's only going to be a niche player for us then we need to be sure he's worth it. Space is tight in this class.

I see but that's what they were listed as. Espn lists jamayest as 5'9" 170. Either way. We could use him. He also plays very physically so even if he was just a slot specialist and return man he'd be worth the effort

Agreed. if we get him I will be happy....but I would rather get another top flight player. A safer player, for lack of a better way of putting it. nobody doubts his talent. Imagine if he were 6'2" 200LBS with his talent!
