Our son is starting his junior year this Fall and the wife and I would like to catch a game. We are thinking about Miss St. or S. Carolina.

My initial thought would be to park pickup in a tailgate area on Friday. Go to the midnight festivities and Uber to hotel. Then get ride back to pickup and maybe blacken fish/chicken before the game.

Are there parking areas that allow propane burners that are not for RVs?

Thanks in advance.

Wish I could answer your questions but I have no idea.

This might help.

Hey Whisker,
Thanks the info was helpful!

I found a map that indicates fan field has parking that opens a 7:00 am. We are net setting up canopy with tables for a big event, so it will just be the two of us. I would still like to heat up the skillet.

Anybody know what fan field is like on game day? Are people cooking in that area or is it just a parking lot?

Once again I have no idea what they are calling "fan field", but 90% of the parking lots are gonna have people cooking in them. You should be good.

You’ll see people cooking everywhere. As far as I know propane is completely fine and expected

I’ve never heard of anyone mention anything called “fan field”.

I just googled fan field. It’s right by the Bush School on the “west” (south) side of campus. (I suggest y’all check out the Bush Library / Mueseum if y’all can fit it in your schedule)

It’s not really a field ... just a giant gravel parking lot.

You’ll be fine to do whatever you want there. I’ll try and take some pictures and post them here of send them to you so you have a better idea.

I think it opens at 7AM on game day ... not sure if you can park there the day before or not ... it’s usually completely empty unless it’s game day so I don’t see why not ...

It’s a decent location right next to Buses that can drop you off after a 2 minute ride at Reed Arena ... which is where a lot of the tailgating starts.

Football Parking / Events

Second subheading regarding fan field

Looks like you can just show up on game day and pay $20 ... this information is supposedly Thursday game specific but my guess is this is how fan field is all year long too ... not sure if you can park there the night before though.

I’ll check out this situation for this Thursday game and get back to you, I’m on that part of campus all the time anyway

Thanks so much for the follow ups. I liked the idea of the parking lot opening early on game day. The other ones seem to open at 3:30.

I would like to make a full day of it when we come down.

Do you have any idea when you’ll be making it into town on that Friday? Assuming it’s a night game on Saturday you’ll have time to see a lot.

Not that College Station has to a of things to do

We went down for the Aggie/LSU baseball game last year and froze our asses off. So we know what to expect from College Station.

Just hanging around campus on a game day Saturday works for me!
