It’s hot off the press and I don’t like to cut and paste premium content so I’ll summarize
It’s not about the money, never has been Aranda wants out of LSU, the A.D. and the coaching situation is a shite show in Baton Rouge
But LSU has counter offered with an obscene amount of money and they were very desperate to not lose Aranda at any cost
Aranda’s lawyer and Miranda are pushing to get A&M to come as closest possible to matching LSU’s big money offer
Loochz still thinks we get the deal done but LSU has thrown the bank at him and we will probably have to pony up more money than we expected because of LSU’s desperation
LSU will spend anything to not lose a second defensive coordinator to a conference member in three years
Nothing is signed yet but still looks like Aranda will be an Aggie

Good stuff. Either way they get screwed. Cause they may have to pay O some more dough. “DOH” - Homer Simpson.

Exactly
But I think it’s more about optics
He was ready to come here for 2 million even that would’ve been very humiliating for LSU
If they force us to pay him 2.5 or more, then at least they can beat their chest and say we were foolish to pay that much money for a coordinator and that it wasn’t about the position but it was all about the money
When in fact that’s not really the truth

Exactly- no LSU fan - except the good posters on here would ever admit that they were ready to pay more than us. Never mind that he still told them to F off.

If that’s the narrative you choose to believe

Remember when the record came out LSU offered Chavis more too lololol

I actually believe it because if you think about it rationally... it does make sense. It’ll come out in time.
Posted on 1/3/18 at 6:42 pm to DBU
That’s what happened with Chavis
Posted on 1/3/18 at 6:50 pm to DBU
I would gather LSU is more desperate to keep Aranda than they were Chavis

Let’s be real Aranda is worth keeping
Why wouldn’t Your AD throw money at him to try to keep him? They have nothing to lose and everything to gain

aranda is the best thing to happen to them since saban, and they are going to let him slip away

Aranda was 'the guy' from the outset that the Ags wanted but that price tag seemed way to high, which led to Elko drawing so much interest. When you look at that contract, you immediately think, 'We raise that price tag, LSU counters and we're having to pay about $2.7MM a year PLUS that buyout. I think what folks are REALLY underestimating right now is that it's not about a monster raise like people think. Aranda WANTED the job for reasons beyond money. I think that will come out when the contract is done and if it ever gets out how much LSU will offer him (in vain) to stay. As I reported in premium when the reports (which also weren't accurate) out of South Bend had Brian Kelly saying Elko was staying at Notre Dame, there was a new target who was suddenly (and surprisingly) deemed as viable who essentially shook up the search.
