After the close loss to Bama and Florida road win, I detected some sunshine creeping back into the fanbase (here, texags, 24/7, pretty much everywhere). Just like swing voters in political elections, there seems to be a lot of you that change your opinion of sumlin after a few wins or losses. I personally have had my mind pretty much made up since after the 2015 season and for sure after 16. So let’s look at strictly facts, not opinions or anything that can be viewed objectively.
(guess I’m stealing CGSC’s bit)
- 24-21 SEC overall
- 15-18 in the SEC West
- 4-13 in the SEC at home since Manziel left - Had two 5 Star QBs transfer within one week of each other
- Had 4 OC’s in 6 years
- Had two hugly embarrassing defeats (59-0, 34 point second biggest NCAA comeback)
- have his best season with players he primarily didn’t recruit or develop
- chew gum on the sideline with a vengeance
And all of that has happened while we’ve paid him a top 10 coaching salary, built a half billion dollar stadium the biggest CFB one in the state, dumped tons of money into other faculty upgrades, and had our biggest in state rival tripping over themselves and missing two bowl seasons in three years.
Now back to opinion, specifically mine. Kevin Sumlin will never win a SEC championship at Texas A&M. Nothing he has done during his tenure here has indicated that he has a good coaching philosophy and a clear goal for the development of this program. And if you disagree with that opinion, I’d like to know why.

Naturally. We acquitted ourselves decently and at the end of the day we just want the Aggies to do well, regardless of who is at the helm. Can't fault folks for that.

I concur.
