Addison it is then!

You'd hate living in the Woodlands at 24 unless you are REALLY into cougars. That commute is too long from the Heights or Midtown or Rice or Montrose (young, hip areas of town); you'd want to kill yourself if that commute was your daily reality.

By the way, "expensive" in this context means expensive, for Houston, which is insanely cheap. Come to ATX and I'll show you expensive, then you'll see the property tax bill and the water bill and you'll pass out on the spot!

Seeing as I moved to Houston in January, I have loved the overwhelming Aggie vibe.

College Station is pretty much an exurb of Houston now. It's just The Woodlands, a little further away.

I'm late to the party, but I can give you some info on The Woodlands.

It's a good hour drive inside the loop during traffic. 30ish min with no traffic.

Def the ultimate suburb. Mostly whiteys everywhere. It has its own downtown type area called market street & the waterway (fake river like San An). Somewhat of an older crowd, but there are some decent bars and eateries. I'd also say the avg age is getting younger. All the kids from the Woodlands are about our age and moving back after school because mommy and daddy will buy them a nice 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom starter house.

Schools don't matter, but schools in the woods are great. A lot of near by areas are zoned to Tomball & Klein which.

Housing is going insane. I just built in Spring. I can walk 5 min and be the Creekside (newest area in the Woods). The exact same house was about 80k more in Creekside vs my hood. Even if I wanted to build my exact same house int eh same hood, it would be another 20k because prices keep going up. Exxon is moving their HQ along with about 15,000 employees to just south of The Woodlands. They've even building their own highway for them (Grand Pkwy).

Speaking of hwys there is even talk of building an "Aggie Highway" which will be just west of the Woodlands (connect 249 to Navasota/hwy6)

Good luck on the interview.

I guess my parents missed the memo

FWIW I don't have any friends that have bought homes in The Woodlands yet (I'm 26). All my friends moved to other cities after college or moved inside the loop

Grew up in North Dallas/Addison. Midway/Frankford to be exact. Love the area. Addison Circle is one of the best parts of Dallas. Uptown is still my favorite in Dallas and lots of cool place not sure if the extra commute would be a big deal but both areas are awesome and if you are set on a certain feel choose the one you prefer. I'm in Dallas as much as possible and have spent more money than I ever want to know off McKinney Ave and I promise the women are gorgeous.

Had an internship in the Woodlands but Midtown is the fun area of Houston and it's super fricking awesome. Have a buddy that lives in Midtown and works in the Woodlands. Don't live in the Woodlands. It's for super rich oil familes that care about school systems.

I would never live inside the loop to raise a family but it has to be one of the funnest areas in the country right now. More twenty somethings than anywhere in the country.
