Guard Jamal Jones, 6-8, 190 pounds of Lee College in Baytown, Texas said on Twitter he will attend Texas A&M. He made an official visit to Arkansas on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. He is currently ranked as the 5th best JUCO player in the country.
Jones, who signed with Ole Miss right out of high school in 2010, had about 10 scholarship offers. He fielded offers from Arkansas, Texas A&M, Oregon, TCU and San Diego State, among others. Jones is originally from Searcy, Arkansas and suprised many when he declined to call the Hogs.
From what I could gather, Jones was dismissed from Ole Miss because he disagreed with our nation's drug laws. If he stays away from the devil's lettuce, he could become the impact player our program so desperately needs.

I'm not going to say that Kennedy is guaranteed a fourth year due to this signing, but it is certainly welcome news.
For the sake of reference: last year, Andrew Young was ranked #11 and Fabyon Harris was ranked #45. 2012 JUCO Rankings

So...we're down to this type of recruit? How long will this go on before we make a change at the top?

I'd pile on...until you remember the circumstances behind Cameron Clear leaving Tennessee.

I'm going to guess that 75% of our players in football and basketball have toked up at some point.

If you have no problem with Cameron Clear, then you can't have a problem with Jamal Jones.

Honestly I'd rather have this kid than cameron clear. Clear stole, from teammates. Marijuana laws in this country are a joke. It's a good thing alcohol can't be tested after the fact or there would be no division one athletes, period.

I wonder what was the thought process behind Ole Miss Coach Andy Kennedy in dismissing Jones from the team yet some time later signs the #10 JUCO recruit for 2012 in thug POS Marshall Henderson. Trading in one "troublemaker" for a bigger troublemaker?
Jamal Jones was never charged with a crime. He's moved on from his mistakes at Ole Miss and made his mark in the JUCO ranks.
You have to give the staff props for their efforts in Jones' recruitment. Out of all of the schools in contention, A&M had been recruiting him the longest. The ultimate credit for landing Jones lies with Coach Cyprien. "The relationship I had with Coach Cyp," Jones said. "He's the only coach out of all the schools that I really trust."

Guard Jamal Jones, 6-8,
NBA size right there. A nice mismatch for any school next season.

I don't think even a player like Jones can save the Billy Kennedy error.
