Defense played well enough for us to win. They only gave up 17 and 7 of this was on a relatively short field after the bad Johnson interception. Gave up some yards in second half but also forced a few turnovers. Couldn’t ask much more of them. 17 points at home by defense should win you the game every time.

Our FG kicking is shaky as hell. Crap shoot. That blocked kick was low.

Offense… too much for Max to handle against Bama. He just holds onto the ball too long and gets in trouble and takes unnecessary sacks and hits. He is fine at QB for 80% of the teams we play. That other 20% is where his shortcomings really show up.

When it come right down to it, Bama hit their open deep receivers for TD. Max underthrew ours by 5 yards allowing the corner to catch up and prevent the catch. Receiver was furious. Consistently throwing off your back foot is a problem.

Max is serviceable but he is no Connor Weigman. We needed an elite QB yesterday. Unfortunate that CW was injured or we win that game.

On the other hand, Steve Adazzio found a way to burn us on both the offensive line and on defense. DeBerry, a Steve Adazzio player from his Boston College days, got picked on way too much.

I think the pieces for this team are there. It's just the coaching at this point. I understand we lost Weigman, but the offense needs to figure out the run game if we are to have a respectable season.

I’m with you. We had a substandard Oline in 2021. We had bottom of the SEC Oline last year. This year is slightly better than 2021 but not good by any means.

We are killing it recruiting in most positions except for Oline.

If you want to win in the SEC you have to have very good line play. Clearly elite on Dline. Texas A&M… always seems to have a key piece missing.

It’s a shame because historically our offensive line is pretty good… sometimes one of the best in the country. These last 3 years… not top 5 in the SECw.

To be fair, as good as Weigman was to start the season he has a nasty habit of throwing off his back foot against lesser competition.
