1st and Goal at LSU 9: Malena 6 yard rush 2nd and Goal at LSU 3: Incomplete pass 3rd and Goal at LSU 3: Incomplete pass 4th and Goal at LSU 3: Incomplete pass LSU was up 14-0 at that time.
Yikes, that is pretty telling.

I just can't put much of this mess on Snyder. Here are some straight facts.
1) Sherman's DL & LB recruiting was well below average. People were bitching about this back in 2010, screaming that our run D was going to be swiss cheese. That's proven accurate.
2) We had some bad luck, and due to Sherman's poor recruiting, we didn't have the depth to deal with it. Polo, Richmond, Ennis, 3 straight years of JUCO DTs not qualifying (Logan David and LeMarc Strahan would give our DL a huge boost. Tra Mason would not have carried those bastards for 4 yard rides, play after play), Baggs just not developing, Shaun Ward's apparent laziness, Alexander not panning out, Ivan Robinson not panning out, etc.
3) Our DL is a total dumpster fire. To elaborate: we have been forced to start a true fish (Golden), which is almost always a very bad thing. Alonzo Williams (true soph D tackle) is undersized (listed at 280, so he's probably 270). Obioha (true soph) suffered an almost-career-ending injury at the end of last year and then missed spring ball + S&C. He also missed a lot of summer S & C. He was limited in fall camp and we were still easing him into things when the season started. Oh, and we moved him to a harder position and gave him more responsibilities, despite the fact that he was out of shape and still recovering from a major injury. That leaves Stansbury as the only guy who doesn't have a major issue. When 3/4 players on the DL have a major red flag next to their names, that's very bad. Throw in that some of the 2nd stringers are true fish and it's even worse.
