not ideal, but on the plus side, all of their pitching seems to be equally shitty. except for cags, who has arm fatigue.

With the triple header pushing things back, first pitch likely to be around 7pm, and not the original 6pm

But that means they burn more arms Thursday which will impact Sat-Mon.
Sure. I was just clarifying that Tenn/FSU results have no bearing on how much rest we can give Jace

Lamkin only threw 42 pitches. No reason to think he can't give you 40-60 tomorrow with ease on 4 days rest.
Starting him today gives him 3 days rest (Su/M/T) after a Saturday start. And presumably you do that because you're trying to squeeze in a potential 3rd appearance if you make it to the finals. That start would also be on shorter than normal rest and limits how much you can get how of him. So the decision is two appearances on short rest vs a a single appearance at full strength.
Schloss knows his arms better than anyone, but I think there's strategic value in letting things play out and not rushing anyone onto the mound until you have to.

Decision tree re: Lamkin
1. Start today (on 3 days rest)
... Available Sun Finals Gm 2 (3 days rest)
... Available Mon Finals Gm 3 (4 days rest)
2. Sit him. If we lose, start Thur (on 4 days rest)
... Available Mon Finals Gm 3 (3 days rest)
3. Sit him. If we win, start Sat Finals Gm 1(on 6 days rest)
I think no matter the decision today, you can still bring Lamkin back for a potential finals matchup and it's just a matter of "3 days rest, then 4 days rest" or "4 days rest, then 3 days rest". I don't know if the latter is significantly different from a recovery standpoint

FSU's freshman starter makes it 0.1 inning before getting pulled.
I'm gonna go out on a limb and say Tennessee will be coming out of the other bracket

Yep, Of course if you are going to miss your pitches vs Tenner.., you might want to miss OFF THE PLATE. Not miss right down the middle of the plate.

FSU with baserunning that would embarrass a little league team

Don't think anything official has been posted but the feeling is Lamkin on the bump and Jace in the lineup

Brauny confirms Lamkin. Florida throwing the same lefty that started against us Saturday. He was electric the first few innings, then fell apart; hopefully the short rest speeds up that process.

Tennessee advances. First finals appearance in 73 years, and no national titles.
If we advance, we're guaranteed another SEC team winning its first title, following Miss State (2021) and Ole Miss (2022). If you add Florida (2017), that could make 4 first time winners from the SEC in the last 7 CWS. 5 in the last 9 if you add Vandy (2014)
Add in UCLA (2013), Virginia (2015) and Coastal Carolina (2016), that would potentially be 8 first time winners in the past 11 CWS. Lots of parity in baseball, if you look purely at the southeastern US

Just need two great pitching efforts. Good pitching can get us over the top.

I’m a little worried about starting Lamkin. The gators saw him just the other day …

I don't love it, but I can see why you go that route

Ok love a good meltdown from the opposing starter. Gotta make them pay with a big number here

Lamkin dynamite in the 1st.
And we had 2 guys barreled up their long relief guy right out of the gate. Nothing to show for it, but we appear to be seeing him well.
