How do you think we'll fare then? That doesn't sound good, I was enjoying us being good

Our offense will likely go from the best in the SEC to middle of the pack. It looks bad on paper, but guys always step up. Guys who were average to below avg turn into studs. Last year it was Allemand, Taylor, & Nau. This year it was Melton, Moss, Birk, Barash, & Moroney. Plus newcomers can have a big impact quickly.
This early on I will peg Davis & Pennington as my most likely to take the next step. Coleman(C) & Blake(OF) as the two most likely freshman to make a big impact early on.
Our pitching will be a strength again with Hill, Simonds (assuming he comes back), Ivey, Kilkenny, Kolek, Larkins, Sherrod, and any newcomers.
We're only really waiting on Boomer's decision. The reasons to go outweigh the reasons to stay IMO but I guess you never know.

Iveys transferring to Juco

Was going to post this. Kind of out of left field. He would have been in our rotation.

Makes no sense according to Gabe. Perhaps a personal issue with Childress? Grades?
Posted on 6/22/16 at 6:17 pm to Old Sarge
Everyone has reasons. Maybe he took it personally when he lost his spot in the rotation.

But to give up starting at A&M for 2 years of Juco????
Posted on 6/22/16 at 6:22 pm to Old Sarge
May have had positive feedback from scouts and wants to be eligible for the draft after next year. He was a true freshman/not going to be 21 by the draft next year right?
Posted on 6/22/16 at 6:25 pm to Old Sarge
Only one year. I guess he assumes he'll go pro after but he could have done the same at A&M since he's older. Unless he's becomes unhittable there is little chance he improves his draft status and development at a better rate than he would have with Childress. RC's speciality is developing pitchers.

Yeah I guess he's older and would have been eligible anyways, that's weird then. Who knows

My first reaction. Nothing else makes sense to me, unless he's not hacking it scholastically. I'll miss his horns down! Completely uncouth and uncalled for. I loved it.

Welp. Here is the deal.

I am Tyler Ivey's father and I want to take a moment and let all Aggies know the truth behind Tyler's decision to leave Texas A&M. I am sure this will be deleted if it is deemed negative on the Aggie narrative. I really understand that though.
First of all Tyler really enjoyed his one year in Aggieland, Words cannot express the joy his family got from this experience. It was always our dream for Tyler to play big boy baseball and get a great education. Tyler loves his teammates and this was a very tough decision for him. He has gained some lifetime friends and he is very appreciative of the opportunity that Texas A&M gave him.
As many of you know he was very competitive in the fall and early spring and was awarded with a weekend rotation role. Tyler's first few starts were good and he actually went his first 20 innings without giving up a run. Tyler got 10 starts this year and had some challenges along the way. I will never forget the LSU game. That is when I finally believed he could be great. After the Florida game he was asked to start the following Tuesday against Rice on the road. That is 3 days rest on a freshman. This started the spiral down hill. Not sure that was the best decision to start him again 3 days later even though he had thrown very few pitches against Florida. Tyler is a creature of habit and routine and once removed from his throwing program and routine he developed a shoulder issue. Keep in mind the Florida start Tyler was moved up a day because Jace was sick. This certainly did not help him because he was in the routine of charting their hitters and then pitching the next day.
We understand there are different narratives when players leave. Everyone has an opinion on the subject but most folks do not know the true behind the scenes story. This is where I will be deleted most likely, so here we go. RC stopped talking to Tyler after the Rice game and gave up on him. When you stop communication with him and stop throwing bullpens with him, well you can imagine how a kid feels. This style of communication can only foster mistrust in any relationship. Does not matter in marriage or coach/player relationship, if you stop communicating developing them, they will feel unwanted.
This hurt Tyler but he did not want this to be about him and never approached RC about his concerns. How could he, we were the #1 team in the country and to have a freshman complaining would only seem selfish. During this time of non-communication and basically going from starter to last on the depth chart, Tyler made other plans to ensure his career will continue. Against all his family advice and other folks advice, Tyler made this decision on his own. He thought it through and decided trust is the most important factor in his relationship, he had to trust his coaches and that part could not be repaired in Tyler's mind.
Although I do not agree with Tyler's decision I do applaud him for making an informed, careful decision. Tyler understands the risk associated with this decision. Everyone who reads this needs to understand at no time did Tyler's family contact the staff with concerns. We are not helicopter parents and we believe he should be his own defense attorney.
So basically staff mistrust lead to Tyler feeling this was not a good fit for him. Thank you to all Aggie fans and this wonderful experience. There are no better fans in the world.

Damn kids these days! I read every word and I still don't get it. Awful decision all around.

i had a different feeling. Guessing that is from texags and was promptly deleted? thanks for posting farmer
thats a damning indictment of RC. I like how hes a hard arse and all that doesnt tolerate shenanigans like sumlin but there are similar stories of him running off players before.

He probably should have gone to RC, at least after the season ended, to discuss with him before making a final decision. If true that's a tough situation though and I don't blame him for exploring his options outside the program. I really liked Ivey as a pitcher and think he has a ton of potential

Why would you EVER compare managing a baseball team to a football team? You have something like a 35 man roster in a non-contact sport vs. 105 players who are supposed to physically dominate opponents.

which is why its admirable when a coach kicks one of those 35 off the team (a starting pitcher nonetheless) because his extracurricular activities are having too much fun.
