Nice to see WR Derrick Dillon will be making it in for Sunday's JR Day. He's electric in space and he plays a ton of positions in HS (much like DCS). Appears we are looking at him as a slot. FYI 247 just bumped him up to #2 in LA ahead of Tyron Johnson. However, no LSU or A&M offer yet suggests that may be premature.

I think it's tough to project him at a position. Though slot looks pretty good you have to know how he'd catch and probably measuring things like hands will be important. If he has Johnny Manziel mits, he's a take all the way imo but if he has normal human sized hands he may be a wait and see. Get him to a camp this summer and see him play WR for a bit.

I don't know that we've moved on from Boyd but he's not going to get a lot of leeway if he's not making tangible progress. We're in on a lot of guys that won't be risks.

And yes, I think we'll take 3 corners. You have about 41 Def ships to play with - 15 DL, 11 LB, 15 DB would be a normal distribution. Our DBs right now

SR (4) - Everett, Matthews, Raven, Honeycutt
JR (2) - Harris, Burns
SO (4) - Ellis, Garner, Sezer, Wiggins
FR (4) - Miles, Davis, Harvey, Watts

So you have room for 5 right away with the 4 SRs graduating and I think we'll see at least one guy on that list not on the roster by '15. So aim for 6 and given a couple guys can play either, 3 CB and 3 S would be easier to recruit than 4 Safeties imo (and on that note Boyd could be a safety even)

So we can put Boyd at safety and move dunning to LB?

You can move a lot of people around in the backfield honestly. Is Davis a CB or S? Harvey? Watts? It'll sort itself out I think.

We need 6 DBs in this class most likely. Get them and then get the best 4 on the field. It's a far easier transition than S to LB that people always want to push.

Apparently Kris Boyd is heading to Austin for their JR Day. Ketch must have known something when he moved him up to #4 in state.

Think it's possible. I forget who but one of his cousins played for the horns. They desperately need a recruiting "win" so I can see them pushing for a commit.

Its funny how they'd spin that as a win when we didn't even offer

This is why LSU hasn't offered. They want him at CB, but are going to wait until camp to let him prove he can play WR since that is a position loaded in-state and LSU will likely get Carlos Strickland from Skyline

Yeah, McGinnis is one bad dude

So Kris Boyd has good enough grades for Texas but not A&M?

they are willing to take a grade risk because that's where they are in the recruiting world

Yup. It's probably worth it for them just for the splash effect regardless of whether he gets in or not
