Here's my thing: if Oregon is such a threat to get him, why did he have to reach out to them this close to the date he set? Kyler comes from a good family, that is more than comfortable funancially. He seems to have a good head on his shoulders, and I don't see him as being short sighted. I just don't think his mom's cancer subsiding is going to all the suddenly erase 2500 miles and 17 years of his life.

He wont, this whole thing has largely been drummed up by the Oregon 247 site over one phone call Kyler made last week. The actual substance behind it is minimal.

After Kyler's visit to Oregon, the Ducks pretty much moved on from Kyler and started recruiting other QB's. He reached out to them last week from what I've read.

Like with everything in recruiting, you can take that call from either side:
1. The call hurts Oregon because he has to make the call to drum up contact with a school he is interested in.
2. The call helps Oregon because he really is considering going there
Also, are we still in the recruiting period where recruits have to call coaches for contact unless they visit the high school?

I may be wrong but I'm pretty sure that goes until the end of their JR year in HS
