IMO he shouldn't be worried about that. He's got a lot of talent but is still pretty raw. I think he could use a redshirt.
To be fair, he is the type of CB that Raymond has fallen in love with and hit the jackpot on with Rashard and was hoping that could cash in again.
The problem is Rashard Robinson and Tre White are LSU's two starters for the next two years. Then you have Ed Paris there as a freshman and Kevin Tolliver in this class, along with whomever else they bring in.
I understand these kids think they are better than anyone but you have to take a realistic look at it. It's also what you said in that he doesn't see athletes like that in 2A. I think that's another difference between Elam and Rashard is that Rashard saw that type of speed in high school.
Either way, as long as he goes to A&M I'll be happy that I get to watch him grow up as a CB

Joseph is from the Pelini coaching tree and likes the bigger combo guys to press. Yates liked smaller, quicker guys to play off-man. It's why we are suddenly after the same DBs as LSU.
Elam compares to Nebraska CB Stanley Jean-Baptiste. I think if he's not able to handle pressing he could get moved to Safety. Honestly both he and Boyd could be a safety. They are big combo guys.

I think it's also becoming the norm of the game also. Wide receivers keep getting bigger and bigger so you don't want some 5'10" corner on a 6'4" receiver who can just manhandle them unless that 5'10" guy has elite speed.

So glad he's a Saint

yeah, it really is becoming the norm. Having a bunch of cover-2 guys trying to play cover-0 last year was ugly. I think Snyder was frustrated with Yates a bit because of that. You have to be able to be multiple because there are a lot of varied offenses in the SEC. When given the opportunity to hire a new DB coach, he grabbed a guy that teaches a completely different style.
And you're right, someone has to match up with the monsters that are today's WRs. We've got an awful lot of smaller CBs on our roster right now (Harris, Ellis, Sezer with Harvey incoming). We need some bigger guys to match up with the Malachi Dupres and Laquon Treadwells of the world.

Man I'm old. That twitter shite baffles me. I'm not succinct enough for only 140 characters. It takes me well over 200 to lay down the awesome that is Jobu.

No thanks on twitter. I won't have an account anytime soon. Not everyone needs their thoughts broadcast for all to hear.

you can do what I do and just create an account where all you do is follow news agencies, correspondents, sport teams, sport writers, etc without actually tweeting anything yourself

I'm probably going to do that pretty soon. Nobody gives a frick about my thoughts but I want it to be able to get my sports and world news in one spot
Posted on 5/15/14 at 2:02 pm to ShaneTheLegLechler
exactly. it works great for me as long as I remember to go to twitter

well, yeah. I assume he commits in the next day or so. But the offer itself is a bit puzzling. Based on what I know, I don't think it has anything to do with recruiting. I think we just made the decision to move from 3 to 4 LBs in this class and the reason why....
Posted on 5/15/14 at 3:37 pm to tmc94
Hopefully not because of a certain LB who can't stay away from weed...
Posted on 5/15/14 at 3:39 pm to tmc94
Are we sure this offer is commitable?
Posted on 5/15/14 at 3:43 pm to WestCoastAg
I can't even imagine why you'd make an uncommitable offer to a local kid. The entire idea is to get in the game on a prospect and to get him to visit. If that's uncommitable, what was the point of the offer? It's not like he's about to be off the table and you'll never have a shot to get him on campus later.

I guess I'm trying to make sense of an offer that just seems odd right now

pretty sure we're going to hear transfer news soon
