4* QB Kyle Allen just committed. Could be the #1 pro-style QB in the country next year.

I always thought that was Katy Taylor but I could be wrong. Seven Lakes is a pretty new HS
Seven Lakes scooped up a few of the more affluent neighborhoods from Cinco Ranch and they are just down the road from each other. Seven Lakes is probably the most affluent school in Katy

Some interesting interviews with Kyle Allen. He comes across like an NFL vet to me. I've never seen a 17-yo who interviews so damn easily.
Post Commitment Interview
Local news story on him and teammate (an A&M target) WR/TE Mark Andrews
Andrews hasn't visited yet but will in July. Allen's childhood friend and class of '15 top 100 player is WR Christian Kirk who did visit A&M with Kyle and apparently is a pretty heavy A&M lean now. I think all 3 of them along with teammates DE Qualen Cunningham and OT Casey Tucker (also from AZ) are all visiting together. With Cunningham also being a heavy A&M lean, it's possible we could clean house on AZ in one fell swoop.
As far as national composite ranks they are -
QB Allen (#46)
OT Casey Tucker (#54)
WR/TE Mark Andrews (#80)
DE Qualen Cunningham (#133)
'15 WR Christian Kirk (#62)

It must infuriate the Arizona programs that we could come in and clean these prospects up. Is this a normal year for talent in the state?
Posted on 6/6/13 at 10:25 am to ShaneTheLegLechler
AZ almost always has nice talent but this year is definitely an "up" year for them. They really don't protect state borders well. The top 5 players the last few years went to:
2013 / 2012 / 2011
1. UCLA / Stanford / Auburn
2. ND / ND / Oregon
3. Washington / tu / UCLA
4. ASU / ASU / Nebraska
5. Oregon / Oregon / USC
They just don't seem to have any desire to play at home.

One of those two programs will eventually wake up and see the light. I'd love to play either OOC

was passed along to me...
Pretty funny when you see the 247 profile on Davis he's 100% predicted to A&M
We like Koda at OT btw but I think he may come in at TE and we'll just see if he grows into a tackle

Inside Texas reporting there's a strong possibility that 2015 TE Jordan Davis (committed to FSU) of Houston Clear Lake will flip his commitment to A&M this weekend when he's in College Station for their summer camp. He has not been offered yet. TE/OL/DL Koda Martin could make the call as well.

Shortly after committing, Martin released this statement on his Twitter page: "After lots of prayer, I have finally chosen a school. I was blessed in that I could have gone to just about any school in the country. I finally have peace and choose Texas A&M! I want to thank all the wonderful coaches and programs for recruiting me and offering me a scholarship. I was blessed by all the offers and getting to know such great coaches. In the end I have peace about A&M and am excited to be joining such a wonderful program. I am ready to embrace all the traditions and all that A&M stands for! Gig Em!"
Recruited by offensive coordinator Clarence McKinney and offensive line coach B.J. Anderson, Martin is the third Manvel player to commit to Texas A&M in the last two seasons. The Aggies signed 2013 cornerback Tavares Garner and receiver Kyrion Parker in February. Martin held double-digit offers and had a top six of Alabama, Baylor, LSU, Oklahoma, Texas and Texas A&M.
...
When the Aggies floated the idea of him playing offensive tackle, he was intrigued.
"I thought that it's something that I've never done before so I just thought about how it would be different," Martin said earlier this spring. " I don't know a whole lot about that but then I started thinking about how I love tight end and I love blocking and I started thinking about the pass rush a little bit, and I know a lot about the other side of the ball with [playing] defensive end [for Manvel]. So I think those things could definitely help me a lot."
What a great pick-up for the Ags!

- We're having our 2nd one-day camp today. This one is really focused on class of 2015 guys with only a few 2014 guys in (and I don't believe any with an offer from us just yet). May well start to see 2015 commitments beginning today.
- The Rivals 5-star challenge in Chicago is in it's final day today. Kyle Allen's team won the 7v7 competition.
- 2015 5* DT Daylon Mack in an interview said he plans to commit next weekend (and all but said it will be A&M)

Sips now have 7 commits for class of 2015. It's the strangest thing I've ever seen. 247 has actually ranked the top 33 in Texas for 2015 and of the 7 they have committed now, only 1 is even in that top 33. It could be that maybe they are outworking everyone and picking up guys before anyone figures out who is who, but it looks more like wholesale desperation to me.
- they've already offered 32 players in state for the class of 2015
- these guys have 2 more seasons of high school ball to play, to develop, to grow or not
- Mack has not generally been regarded as an elite talent evaluator
- the guys that are committing are mostly guys that no one else has offered and 247 doesn't rank meaning they are probably from the bottom of the subset of offers
I'm not saying these guys are all gonna suck. I'm sure some of them are under the radar to this point and are excellent prospects. But to give an idea we've only offered 31 prospects from the state of Texas so far for the 2014 class. If they were offering like LSU or Bama and not accepting these commitments it would be one thing. But they are offering and accepting from 15 year olds that aren't even elite guys.
So I think Mack has officially lost his mind

God I hope they never get rid of him. Unfortunately I don't see him being their HC when the class of 2015 comes to campus
Posted on 6/9/13 at 9:19 pm to ShaneTheLegLechler
For a guy everyone wants to "retire," he sure is acting like he'll be there for the next 6-7 years. Otherwise, why change to start offering HS sophomores when just 6 months ago he'd never offered a guy before the spring of his JR year. He may go, but I think it will be kicking and screaming.
Posted on 6/9/13 at 9:42 pm to tmc94
Yeah I agree, I don't see him gracefully stepping down. They will have to nut up and can him. I just don't see them putting up with 2 more mediocre seasons. But I sure hope I'm wrong

I did not know that things were so bad outside of the sliver, but I think this comment summed it up nicely:
