I don't want to downplay their class. They have some excellent players that I wouldn't mind having that we never bothered to offer since they weren't interested (Roberson, Heard). But...
We talked to him and he self-reported an offer to Rivals bu he never actually got an A&M offer (we asked for transcripts and immediately backed off). He also has a conditional offer to the sips and is not a commit until he meets some grade requirements.
we declined to accept his commit months before he committed to the horns. That's not exactly a head-to-head win. It's actually fricking embarrassing that they count it as one too
We stopped recruiting him when Watts committed as we have no more room for CBs that don't have the last name Brown

What are you guys hearing about Brandon Harris?
Posted on 5/24/13 at 2:55 pm to Captain Crown
I don't know there is much scoop. Apparently it's an A&M-LSU battle. He's told both sides he really like them so it's hard to see through the recruit-speak. He's visiting both schools in the next few weeks. I think after that there will be a clearer picture. Our coaches seem to be pretty positive about the situation though.
Also, I'd say Harris is pretty much a perfect fit for the offense Sumlin wants to run. We've rebuilt our offense around Manziel's talents but he's not really the kind of QB that fits Sumlin's system. While obviously Manziel is an unique talent, his lack of a deep ball limits the offense a bit. Harris has a monster arm and while he doesn't have JFF's scramble ability (no one does), he's got decent wheels.
And I was told if we whiff on Allen and Harris, we may well pass on a QB this year if we don't find someone we really like because we have 3-4 QBs in 2014 that we like better than any other '13 QB we've found so far. That seems insane to me because we only have 3 on campus right now. If Stewart goes baseball and JFF leaves, we'll have 3 again next year except one won't be a returning heisman winner. That's scary.

Kyler Murray is a given, but who are the other two QB's?

Chason Virgil from West Mesquite
JT Granato from Kinkaid
and a couple of kids from out of state

He would be a great fit in your offense

random recruiting notes
This guy was good friends with the Manvel due (Garner and Parker). I think they all grew up together or something iirc but he moved to Missouri. We offered but never really pursued hard and maybe this explained it. However, it may be a name to keep an eye on in the future.
We've got our first camp on June 9 and have a ton of attendees lined up. Should be a good day for us. Both OU and tu have a camp this weekend and it's almost a who's who of guys we aren't recruiting. Both have other camps later but it's stunning how few of the state's top recruits are going to be there.
2014 guys uncommitted we have offered going to tu:
S, Jamal Adams, Carrollton Hebron
ATH, Kevin Shorter, Newton
LB, Josh Mabin, Klein Oak might also be there but we haven't offered him yet. We likely will at our camp on the 9th provided he looks good
and to OU:
S Steven Parker, Jenks, Oklahoma

Power Mizzou guys reporting Mizzou football's lone 4-star 2013 commit, Chase Abbington, will enroll in JUCO this coming fall

Anyone using the gay cow fan logo should merit an immediate ban from this board.

Don't hate man I am an LSU fan. Just switching things up for the time being.

DE Jarrett Johnson (Katy Seven Lakes) committed. He was essentially deciding between A&M and tu

Crown - I think we all know you are a swamp kitten. We don't like them either
Honestly I at least haven't heard anything new on Adams lately

YESSIR! I'm happy that he finally pulled the trigger and committed.

Haha I know it's good you guys are in the SEC now.

Jarrett Johnson just committed.

honestly it's always nice to get a new commit but I'm not particularly excited about him. He'll probably end up being a total stud like Obioha now but I guess it's hard to get excited for high 3*s given how the rest of recruiting is going.
We definitely need DEs though and it's not like we're loaded with 4*s there now. And Johnson seems really smart (I think he's looking at engineering) and a hard worker. Seven Lakes I think is the richie rich area of Katy (which is also probably why they suck). Even if he's not a future NFL 1st round pick, the downside risk is pretty low it would seem.

Never know how some of them will pan out. Are there higher names on your DE board?

5* Myles Garrett and 4* Qualen Cunningham are supposedly both heavy A&M leans. If you notice both have 100% on the crystal ball bullshite. I don't mind Cunningham, but it seems like we're giving up on Willis, Thomas, Godcheux, etc with this move. But maybe we'd take 4, especially if one of those is a swing guy that could move inside.

Seems like Speedy and Willis are going to the same school. Find it weird y'all would give up on Willis. Garrett is a bad man
