You are either completely cluless about the Saturday scrimage or just not telling the truth!
Which is it?
Have a great day!

Gary you simply don't know the football rules yet? The limit on signed players that can be given Scholarships is 85. The limit on the number of players that can be signed without giving them scholarships is much larger than 85. I'll be glad to help you along Gary as you learn more about football? _____miller58
I was going to get you to name one kid in the past decade that was a three star recruits from Rivals who walked onto A&M's team, but it's so obvious from everything else you posted how little you actually know about football recruiting.
Just what exactly do you think these kids are "signing"?

What is the National Letter of Intent?
The NLI is a voluntary program consisting of 610 DI and DII schools. DIII, Junior Colleges and NAIA universities do not participate in the NLI program. The NLI is a binding agreement between the student-athlete and the college that, when signed, indicates the student-athlete has agreed to attend the chosen college for one academic year and the college has agreed to provide athletic financial aid for one academic year.
Read up.. You might learn something.
You can sign more and give players gray shirts, but that just delays their scholarship.. You cannot have more than 85 players on scholarship at any time.

Big one coming up for the Aggies with "Friday night lights". A lot of guys going to be in town. I suspect the Aggies will get multiple commitments and add to the list. The news about LB Deon Hollins is very promising. That would be a big pickup if comes to fruition.

Between FNL and the spring game, this will be a busy few weeks for A&M in recruiting... I wish they were doing a better job promoting FNL, though.

That's actually an easy question. Answer is Aaron Arterburn.

4* OLB Dean Hollins JR from Ft Bend would be a great pickup.
I hope our coaches can pull it off.
Lots of other big names supposed to be here the next couple of weekends.
Hollins is now shown as a firm commitment to UCLA and Jim Mora with offers from over 25 major football programs.
Any feel for our chances with him or any other top four or five star ranked defensive recruits the next couple weekends?
Thanks for the good information.

He didn't exactly walk on either. He was given the opportunity to gray shirt and instead paid his own way for a semester. He was on scholarship after that semester.

Sumlin is on several top 2014 defensive studs I'd like him to reel in.

Sumlin still has nine defensive positions to fill in this class to start this Friday Nite Lights to build a defense.
DE__4*______?
DT__4* Golden
DT__4* Huggins
DE__4*______?
OLB_4*______?
MLB_4*______?
0LB_4*______?
CB__4*______?
CB__4*______?
S___4*______?
S___4*______?
How soon will the Sumlin 10 fill in the blanks?
We simply need to build this 4* defense to stop losing to most ranked teams every year!

Well this thread is officially crap
Posted on 4/19/12 at 2:46 pm to BigAggie06
BigAggie06 you are so right.
The Ags that thought we would win with RC's. Fran's and Sherman's mostly three star ranked players have been proven wrong every year for the last 20 years losing to almost all ranked teams we played so it's time to do what has proven to win, four star ranked players with good coaching.
Sherman has signed/committed 88 three star ranked players(rivals) and got us a #76 ncaa ranked scoring defense so we have more than enough 3* players to last us the next 5 years and we have to be patient this year with Sumlin because he inherited a squad that will not beat the ranked teams we play this year so Sumlin must commit four star ranked players at every position on defense this year, then s&c and coach them if we are to just start to beat the ranked teams next year in 2013.
of course there are a few Ags suffering from cte, not reading well and hard heads that will still support the losing ways of the last two decades(AP) and I hope you are not one of them?
Have a good day BigAgge06.

Of which only 42 are still on the team (keep in mind that there are no players from the class of 2008 on A&M's roster...zero).

Aren't you leaving out some players?
Notably
CB: Devante Harris 4-star (2012)
S: Eddie Pope 4-star (2012)
LB: Jordan Richmond 4-star (2012)

On 4/13/12 @6:08pm you posted:
2012 Roster:
5* players-3
4* players-16
3* players-51
2* players-5
Today you post our roster has 42-3* players which makes sense making room for up to 7 -4* and 12 more 3* players from the 2012 class(rivals) soon to be added to the 85 man roster.
My post indicates 9 more defensive players needed in "this class" (2013), not the past 2012 class.
I also want 11 more 4* defensive players by position in the 2014 and 2015 classes so we are finally on an even playing field with 3-deep winning defenses like 'bama, lsu, florida, ut, ou, etc by 2016-'17.
Of course I will follow Sumlin's progress on the 11 -4* defensive players by position to signing day!
Pope is an outstanding safety and would make the rotation if not starting by midseason as will the other two you mentioned but Pope's deal with Sumlin was he gets to try playing receiver first then maybe some time later safety.
We don't have a team this year that can beat the ranked teans we play but our fastest hope is to recruit 11 -4* defensive players this year by position to just start building a winning defense adding on 11 more 4* defensive players each of the next two years with S&C and good coaching build that winning defense.
Obviously Sumlin has to build an offense almost from scratch except for 5 O-line positions as well.
The actual exact numbers I don't follow but Sherman used to keep up to 120 sgned/committed players trying for the 85 man roster, down to 105 for part of the year, etc. all complying with ncaa rules.
That is where he stashed a lot of the 3* players he signed after the first year.
And of course you are exactly right about the 2008 class 3* players being gone as they sadly are being replaced by the 3* players in the 2012 class. And sadly Sumlin has already used 11 2013 commits less 3 decommits on three star ranked players instead of fours and fives which with the ones Sherman signed/committed less the 2008 class plus the 2012 class at every position is way too many to soon inprove our team to a winning level vs ranked teams!
It loked like both C Mike and Mathis were held out of last Saturdays scrimage(I was looking at recruits mostly so could have missed them) so we will start the season with uo to 25 or more 4*/5*'s and up to 60 or more 2*/3*'s totaling 85.
On Sumlin's arrival at A&M 'bama had signed 84 -4*/5* players the previous 5 years, florida 81, tu 81, lsu 78, etc. so A&M at only 25 now means these other teams on our sec schedukle still have 3 times the 4*/5* speed, size and athleticism we have?
Good posts!
Regards,

It does. The SPRING ROSTER has 42 3* players and there are 9 3-stars remaining from the 2012 class who have yet to arrive on campus.
