I will not watch this upcoming Saturday by choice, and I can't actually remember the last time that happened lol.

IDGAF what his record is, he needs to go, period. He is an 8 win coach, nothing more. He squandered tons of talent, look at the players that bailed on his burrheaded arse. Hell, I no longer wish Jalen Hurd would catch the aids now. frick Butch Jones. We are an infinitely more attractive job now, and we can fish in the deep waters. We will have to pay to get a name, but we were the most profitable school in the SEC last year, so it shouldn't be an issue. Fire his arse tonight and let's get out in front of all of the other schools that will be shopping for a new coach at the end of the year.

Next loss he needs to go. If we lose to UGA, we have a bye week afterward. Fire butch, use Fulmer as interm HC, then hire Bob Stoops. We have fantastic fans & facilities. We have a good base of players. We are 3 hours from ATL, Charlotte & booming Nashville. The east is down. We can win the east with a good coach and the current players. We can win the SEC & make the playoffs with a good HC and recruits from those 3 cities. UT will be a top job when it opens.

If you want Butch gone that's fine, but can we try not to make ourselves the laughingstock of CFB by spouting off coaching hires like Bob Stoops? Do you rationally think that we have a snowballs chance in hell at getting him here? And that's not a question of prestige/resources but the guy retired, wasn't forced out, of a HC position at an equally storied program. He's not looking to come back to CFB.

If you want to say Chip Kelly or Les Miles; those are long shots, but fine. More realistically we'll be looking at the likes of PJ Fleck, Norvell, Tee Martin, Fuentes (maybe) if Curry/the admin aren't incompetent. But spouting off about the likes of Stoops or Gruden makes you sound like an idiot. It's funny to joke about but some of you allow the line to blur and start genuinely believing it.

Bob Stoops just started following a couple of top UT committed recruits on twitter. Why would he start following them on twitter if he is retired? Why would a 56 y/o "retired" coach be interested in what some 17 y/o recruit says on twitter?

If Tee or PJ are who we get that would be disappointing. That would mean we would miss on Petrino, Franklin, Cooter, Mullen, Gundy.

Except he hasn't. He hasn't been active on twitter since July. He was following those recruits prior to retirement when he was **Drumroll** recruiting them! But good try.

You have a time stamp for when he follows/unfollows recruits on twitter?

He started following them last week.

BigOrangeVols, I would advise you to pay attention to volfan30's posts otb.

We will be the top CFB job open. We have a solid group of players. A solid 2018 class. Top facilities. Great fan base. We pay well. 3 hour drive from boomtown Nashville, Atlanta & Charlotte. The east is down. We can win the east right now with good coaching.

Anything short of a home run or grand slam hire would mean there are serious drama issues behind the scenes with the AD & Boosters. I'm counting on that not being a problem as selling this job to a top coach will be easy

That's the sad thing. VOLS have pretty clearly been the most talented team in the East in 2015 and 2016 imo and all we have to show for it is two 9 win seasons.

His last time-stamped activity was July 29th. If you can provide proof otherwise then I'm all ears.

And what proof of this is there? The fact that they're his most recent follows, of which he did prior to retirement? His last activity was July 29th. It's sensationalized word of mouth being spread like verbal gonorrhea.

Just because he hasn't posted anything doesn't mean he been on twitter. You're really making a strange deal out of this imo

How so? The basis of the Stoops argument/speculation is that he’s just now followed UT recruits as a signal of his imminent hiring as the soon-to-be HC. Which is a fallacy. On top of that he’s recently retired from a program on par with our own after having just been to the CFP. You’re delusional if you think he wants to come here. That’s the basis of my argument of which you both have harped on.

I will say that I agree that if the position opens up were easily a top 2-3 spot with the roster and everything else. I’m just saying that people shouldn’t go bat shite crazy about it.

Bruh, 95% of the stuff we post re: coaches is just trolling the idiots on the rant. Come on

But go read volfan's post in the hot board thread. He is a bonafide insider and does not make things up. And settle down a bit

I get that, I'm just saying that it's beginning to go beyond that. I'm just getting fed up with the whole situation, I've been hearing this BS on local sports radio, etc.. And it's wearing me thin. I get it's mostly a troll job but it's starting to get more traction than that which drives me up the wall.

Petrino? No thank you

Franklin? As in James?? I'd have to cringe the whole time but he does seem to be a good coach.

Cooter-cool

Mullen-little disappointed but ok

Gundy? No thank you
