Maybe he has a good reason for letting this drag out, but there's no doubt that Currie is really putting the pressure on himself right now.

If this all ends with us making a hire the fan base is genuinely excited about, all will be forgiven. However, if he lets this bullshite drag on while the recruiting class tanks and then attempts to trot another little known, unqualified, loser on there, I don't expect he'll get to try again.

So let's not pretend that the rumor of them waiting for the 7th loss is true

I understand the logic behind lowering the buyout but do they not understand what the state of the fan base will be at that point? I know we joke around a lot but they will either becoming completely apathetic and we will have 30,000 at home games or they will become enraged and who knows what happens then

Neither are good options

IMO he is waiting until he has the next coach lined up before he pulls the trigger on Butch. That way he can avoid all the public denials, speculation, etc. that seems to come with coaching searches.

But yeah, I would prefer Butch was fired a few weeks ago.

He definitely should be gone but I sort of understand the decision to at least give him the chance to get to 8-4 (we all know it's not happening but you have to give him the chance I guess).

From there all bets are off and depends on the who the losses are to. Any win extends the decision and pushed it to the point where they are probably just going to wait until the end of the season to do anything publicly. if we lose to UK, USM, and Missou I could see an announcement saying that he will not be retained but will coach the final game or two.

Absolutely a fair point. I am trying to think that somehow this coaching search will go better than the ones with Hart, but really have no rational reason why that will be the case.

They know they'll put 100k asses in seats even if they trot out a golden retriever to coach VOLS.

They think that and in the past that would've been a correct assumption but I'm not sure that can be counted on anymore. If they don't make a good hire, I think they're going to be surprised by fan reaction. This has gone on too long to bank on fans showing up for another shite hire.

Idk, Prof, we are absolute suckers and are one of the dumbest fanbases in the country. There will always be a very large contingent who support no matter who is hired.

I do hope you're right though if the AD makes another shite hire.

A large percentage of our fans would support a garbage can if it was the head corch.
