Backup is KJ Lacey, out of Saraland, AL. In his limited game time, he's been handing off, so we don't know much about what he can do yet, so Arch isn't getting benched as long as he's not aggressively turning the ball over.
As a game manager he's been... acceptable, given the zero in the loss column. The stats comparison vs. Mateer is misleading because Mateer has to play hero ball to give OU a chance to win, while Arch just has to drive the bus and lean on the running game.
To my eye, Sark calls a lot of long-developing plays and our OL can't stop a linebacker blitz. When Arch has time, he's not bad. When he's scrambling, he's pretty good. But he doesn't process the field quickly, so when pass protection fails and he hesitates, bad stuff happens.
