Alabama, Auburn, etc. If I was a 5* or 4* I would go to Kentucky, SC, MU, etc. At the elite schools there will be 5* and 4* players at every position which will make it even harder to start and play...
Dont get me wrong I would love to play for a team that is in the NC talk every year, but just wondering what everyone thoughts are on this....

Because they want to win games and championships. And go to the NFL.

1. They want to win championships.
2. Those schools have shown they know how to develop players and put them in the NFL
3. It's easier to look good when the players around you are good
4. Having good players around you makes you push your self and ultimately makes you better

Competition makes you better.

Some guys are motivated enough just being on the team and competing in the games though some clearly need the internal motivation/competition to get them going.

Auburn and Alabama are really not on the same level in recruiting. Alabama has signed the #1 class for like the last 7 years in a row and some people think even the school in 2nd place hasn't been close to them during the last two or three years.
Auburn has recruited well, but our recruiting classes on paper have been no better and maybe even worse than schools like LSU, Georgia, Florida, and A&M

The NFL argument is the one that has always baffled me. I mean, a relatively high percentage of 4 and 5 star recruits are the ones who get drafted in the early rounds. Obviously if you have a team with 60 4/5 star prospects a lot of them are going to get drafted just based on talent not necessarily player development.
I'm a firm believer that if you have the skill to play, the NFL is going great to find you. Just look at guys like Joe flacco and khalil mack.
Idk

But there are also a lot of high ranked guys who go to bad programs and are never heard from again. IMO, it just comes down to coaching, and obviously the teams with the best coaching are going to be more successful

The SEC schools that recruit well also have bigger stadiums and they are in closer proximity to recruits. Texas, Florida, and Georgia produce the most recruits in SEC territory. If a kid from one of those states went to Mississippi State, he would have to pass over several schools that are closer to home, have a better tradition of winning, and play in bigger stadiums. Sorry, but not many high profile kids are going to make that decision

I'd prefer to go to a school loaded with 4/5 stars at every position but mine.

because legit competition makes you stronger... back in my athletic days we had 3 other guys on my club team who did the same event as me, and were also ranked top 16 in the nation. i'd like to think we all benefitted from this conglomerate of talent.
