I'm sure the Horns have someone in the league office they can pay off. Will agree with you about that. However, it sets an incredibly dangerous precedent. We are getting close to CFB free agency

Why would they do that? He signed a LOI and enrolled in school.

Because they are Texas. They own the NCAA

The best part is that little dweeb EJ is promising Texas fans that he's going to get Bru McCoy classified as part of the Texas class - for ranking and bragging purposes. Wow

Well they are Texas. But they don't run the NCAA. Norte Dame or Bama will run the NCAA before Texas would.

Helton released Mccoy of his LOI

Why is he an idiot to go play for Texas? The last California received they signed looks to be pretty dang good.

And think if this kid was coming to A&M without ever having participated in a team event, and the coach (reportedly) lied to them about if the OC was staying.

I know we say players shouldn’t go somewhere for the coach, but I completely get why they do.

ETA: If Helton releases him out of his LOI, then he for sure should be able to play next year.

Yes, he did. But the kid is still a transfer. Rules apply about that, unless he lawyers up. And once again, at this point it is becoming apparent that the era of CFB free agency is upon us

Never try to reason with a Aggie about Texas never.

Never reason with a SWTS grad, agreed. Those who actually graduated from Texas can carry on a lucid argument, but you appear to be too stupid for that

A coaching change would be extenuating circumstances for a waiver, but an assistant coach? That has never been granted before

I never said he should be granted eligibility right away. You should go melt on texags with your fellow gaggies.

USC released him completely. I’m sure the NCAA will grant him a waiver.

The NCAA didn't grant Kellen Heard a waiver when he did this going from Miami to A&M (asked for release from his LOI a month after national signing day) or Baker Mayfield. Not only that but, IIRC, Heard lost a year of eligibility as a result.

The precedent has already been set. McCoy will have to sit out all of 2019.

One would hope so. Imagine if players could transfer without penalty because they didn't like their assistant HC. That means that essentially a player could transfer anywhere, anytime for any bullshite reason

Without penalty. CFB free agency, or its equivalent

Holy shite you are a bitch, ColoradoAg.

Aggies have the 3rd ranked class, will end up Top 5, will probably flip Sheppard.

Never go full fricking Ag.

They’re not completely different, but they’re definitely not even close to the same thing.

Btw. No way did Heard lose a year of eligibility if he didn’t even play. That has to be made up.

Can you link something that says that? Holy crap what a complete rip off if he lost a year of eligibility when he didn’t even play.

That's why I said "IIRC" (If I recall correctly). After looking it up, he did not lose a year of eligibility, he just never enrolled at Miami.

Letter of Intent Signed - February 4, 2004 (Never Enrolled)
Request for release from LOI - January 5, 2005
Transferred to A&M - January 5, 2005
Enrolled at A&M
Played 2005, 2006, 2007 seasons
Transferred to Memphis - 2008
Played at Memphis 2009
Undrafted in 2010.

I don't think he lost a year of eligibility. He simply redshirted that first year as most transfers do, if I remember correctly. I apologize for not remembering all the details - that was the Franchione years, and I've done my best to forget those.

They are like a bad dream you just try to ignore
