FWIW I don't believe there is cheating, which is why I started this thread. I wanted real insight into the recruiting to understand the upswing. You guys are providing it.

At some point. It's gonna be awesome. Remember when Nutt let Powe do it in the Cotton bowl?

Yeah, I don't think there is any. No more than the usual stuff everybody is doing.

I think Auburn will close strong this year as well.

We had a great shot at Lawson initially, he really liked our staff- Ole Miss was just too far away for his fam.

I remember Roberts now. I just have not been engaged in recruiting as much this year. You guys are bringing in some fricking talent. I understand the excitement more now from you OM fans. May I suggest some of your newer fans tone it down a bit?

Nkemdiche

Denzel is a baller and a fan favorite. His brother wants to be with him and wanted to bring people along with him. It all sorta worked out.

Not only is Denzel a great player - his charisma is off the charts. He is the catalyst for the entire row of dominoes, IMO.

Thanks to HDN/Markuson for signing him

Growing up as an Ole Miss fan, I've found any moment of sheer joy or momentum should be approached cautiously. I honestly don't know what to think right now.

So it looks like there is a good nucleus of top recruits doing work recruiting their class coming in.

Roberts
Denzel
Nikimideecheedamus
Treadwell

Someone explain to me what Freeze is like working a recruit?

Interesting. Explain the being cautious part?

Think Pete Carroll - he has an electric personality and likes to use similar "win the day" slogans. Dude is just a great salesman. He's completely invested and promoting Ole Miss as his dream job, which it is.

He also is a very devout Christian man. As an Auburn fan, you can surely acknowledge the value of that to recruits

He's just young and vibrant, he ain't skerred to recruit anyone.

There's a lot of factors here:

1) Hugh Freeze is a heck of a recruiter. Does well with kids and family. Stay in contact with these kids as much as he can within NCAA guidelines. He's also one hell of a speaker.

2) The Nkemdiche brothers gave credibility to the program and are great recruiters for Ole Miss. Once they got Laquon Treadwell on board, they had two five star recruits trying to poach every other big name at the Under Armor game. The power of Laquon to convince kids to come to Ole Miss cannot be underestimated.

3) Going from 2-10 to 7-6 in one year and having the energy this Ole Miss team played with in every game definitely gave recruits something to think about.

4) Oxford is a great college town.

5) Almost every recruit that has visited has talked about the great family atmosphere at Ole Miss. It means quite a bit to young kids to feel like they are part of a family than out there on their own.

6) Our fans do such a good job in assisting with recruiting. They know the recruits by name and treat them like royalty when they visit. They each feel like celebrities in Oxford. Hell, Denzel Nkemdiche gets so many twitter pictures posted every day with fans in Oxford that it is ridiculous.

7) The coaching staff is full of guys who are great coaches and recruiters. Maurice Harris, Matt Luke, Chris Kiffin, Wesley McGriff, and Grant Heard all do a great job and these kids tend to like them quite a bit.

8) Other coaches likely did not take us seriously in recruiting this year until it was too late. They probably didn't spend the time trying to deep six our efforts, spending more time badmouthing the Bamas and LSUs of the world.

9) We have the best uniforms in college football. Duh!

10) Kids like bears.

I'll go a little further.

I'll just use Scout rankings because I dont want to use every ranking out there.

2009 Ole Miss had the #17 recruiting class
2010 Ole Miss had the #15 recruiting class
2011 Ole Miss had the #20 recruiting class
2012 Ole Miss had the #58 recruiting class-Hugh Freeze was hired in December. The class only had 18 prospects. In one month he was able to hold on to 5* Channing Ward, UA All American Trae Elston and Issac Gross. This is coming off a 2-10 year and what was possibly the worst year in program history.

So its not like Ole Miss wasnt getting top 20 talent. Adding a couple more 5* guys with ties can get you to that top 10 level.

Laquon Treadwell best friend Anthony Standifer is a true freshmen.
RN brother was a freshmen all american
Tony Conner is from SP, a traditional Ole Miss stronghold.
Lavon Hooks was at a MS JUCO school
Christian Morgan sister is being recruited by Ole Miss for volleyball
Kailo Moore was committed to Ole Miss before MSU

After you get LT and RN on board its not hard to get other guys on board.
