2020: 487 247 USC Article On Scholarship Offers

Not all offers are created equal. And some aren’t even actual offers. It’s not uncommon for the prospect or someone connected to the prospect, like a coach, trainer, family member (or handler) to misconstrue what is actually on the table.

Those numbers pale in comparison to some of the figures you’re about to see below. Let’s start with Tennessee. Because Jeremy Pruitt began in 2018, we’ll begin with the 2019 cycle.

Forewarning: These numbers are ridiculous.

2020: 487

Georgia isn’t quite as bad as Tennessee – there aren’t many who are, but the Dawgs have offered 264 prospects from the 2020 recruiting class. The previous years are more in-line with South Carolina, though slightly higher in two of the three.

2019: 286

They have some other schools in there like AU and Clemson. Clemson only offered 105 kids last cycle but I guess when you win the national championship then you can be more picky.

I found this interesting

quote:

Stanford is a polar opposite. Admissions standards for the Cardinal are the biggest reason why they’re so selective in who’s offered to play out there.

There are some instances where those lofty admissions standards end up costing Stanford a highly-recruited prospect. South Carolina sophomore quarterback Ryan Hilinski is one example.

2020: 73

2019: 78

2018: 54

2017: 67

Must be a nice offer for a Stanford education as well but those admissions are a killer. As a coach there I imagine that has to be somewhat frustrating.

I assume that's because they have to see if they gain admittance to the school before they can offer them a scholarship. That's still pretty cool though and makes you wonder why a school like Stanford can be success but Vandy, GT, and others still struggle.

You’d be dumb if you didn’t offer most of the top 100 or so prospects, some without a relationship, right? What is more concerning is some of these uncommittable offers these schools throw out. That has to be an awkward conversation. There could be a great documentary on recruiting.

It definitely makes sense to throw those offers out to the top 100 and see where they stick.
