We probably have the two best QB's Miss State has had on its campus at the same time in the history of the school

Because one has never played and the other very sparingly. Spurlock, Shaf, and Mackey were going to make us say eli who until they actually played

So....when MSU fans say Liggins is a perfect fit for MSU's offense and I tell them that we run about the same offense, they claim MSU's is different because they focus on the "power run" instead of the pass.

How exactly does Tyler Russell fit into that offense?

I'm not asking that question in relation to what you just posted. I'm just curious as to exactly how you're going to answer this. Mullen has yet to prove that he can successfully pass the ball. And Russell will consistently be in a cast if he runs the read-option

....and don't bring up Russell vs Memphis. Memphis was terrible and I probably could have slung a few TD's in that game.

then you havent been paying attention...Mullen will have his best team since he has been at State this Fall- and thats in his 4th season

So....predicting another 10-win season?

I remember some people saying he's going to be the next Vick.

Cutcliff tried moving him to a WR position, he said F you, I'm a QB.

Tried to tell the NFL the same thing but they said, F you, we won't pay you.

Everytime he rolled out and threw the ball right into the ground a small part of me died inside.

you are going to see us run what Mullen/Meyer did with Leak and Tebow...we will play both QB's all season long

Mullen will always have a mobile QB

No- we will be 8-4...with an outside shot at 9-3...the schedule works back in our favor this year...and our defense is going to be really fricking good

That works very well in theory.....but Leak/Tebow had a hell of a lot better talent surrounding them than is at MSU. The mobile QB most definitely has an advantage in that type of offense but it's absolute hell on a pure passing QB to get in a rhythm, sit on the bench for a few series, then get back in without missing a beat.

And if you're planning on only subbing in the running QB in certain situation, the defense will heavily defend the run and that QB won't be in any sort of rhythm throwing the ball.

a two-QB system has a lot of possibility but it also comes with even more possibility of it screwing up. Especially factoring in a dumb decision by the HC in a key, high-pressure situation. And judging by the Auburn game this past season and the past two LSU games, I can't say that Mullen has shown to me he can make those smart decisions.

I think its going to work ok. Prescott can throw the football- but he will be better at running the ball than reading defenses early in the season. He's shiftier than Relf and a better passer- but he wont be as physical.

We'll see- I worry way more about the OL gelling than the QB position.

So you're pinning hopes on a RSFR that's never thrown a collegiate pass playing like Tim Tebow

He'd be your second best DE or DT that will qualify

This is absolutely hilarious josh Boyd (senior who started this year) khaleb Eulls (very good DE) Denico Autry, Quay Evans, nick James! Jefferson MIGHT be our 4th or 5th best DT or DE... Not saying he isn't good but the defensive line is going to be great with or without him!

Jefferson isnt as good as PJ Jones, Devin Jones or Curtis Virges either.

No, I'm pinning my hopes of winning 8 games on a strong defense, experienced WR corp, talented RB's, and a 2 QB system

I hope not- just let a walk-on handle the 3rd spot in 2012...much more talented QB class next year

my thoughts as well.

IIRC, Russell will be a junior this coming season. This is one of those times where I'd build my team for the season after the next. If you have a Senior on the OLine, let his replacement get at least 1/3 and maybe even closer to 1/2 of the snaps this season at the position he'll play the following.

Low expectations this season.....high expectations in 2013 with a Senior passer and a mobile QB with some decent PT under his belt.

Curious as to the stats of their 2nd best RB compared to Ballard.

But Ballard wasn't nearly as good as his stats inferred(not saying he wasn't good). He got a ton of yards/TDs based on the defense having to also worry about Ralph running the ball.

ETA: a read-option will more likely than not fail with both an unproven RB AND QB. In Ralph's first season with Merlins, defenses had to really worry about Dixon and it freed up Raff to run.
