People forget how big it was that Burrow had two years to play, instead of just one. Burrow got to campus in June and had 3 months to learn the offense and win over the team.

No doubt a tough situation to be in. Knowing that...he did a really good job that first year, although nowhere near what was to come in his second year.

Newman has one year of eligibility and will be even further behind where Burrow was due to this pandemic.
Probably and a fair point. But, he has the advantage of having played 1 full season and a half of a season....so there is some advantage to that. Granted he will be playing under a different offensive scheme. I guess my pushback comes from people assuming he will not be good at all. That's just silly. If he does what he did at Wake I think we will be fine. I don't THINK any of our fans are truly expecting Joe Burrow type of success....or at least they shouldn't. T think that would be insane.

I don’t think Newman will be awful, but to think he’ll be close to Burrow’s 2019 season is simply, naive.

Again...I can't imagine anybody thinking that. I've not seen any Georgia fan that thinks this. I mean, don't confuse the 2-3 trolls on here with reasonable fans.

And one sat the bench while the other played and got experience.

I mean, the similarities I am seeing is that they are both transfers and both hoping to right the offensive ship at their new schools. I am not selling that Newman will be as good as Burrow. That would be crazy. I am selling that Newman could come in and do a good, solid job and be better than a "mediocre ACC QB."
I get that he will be going against MUCH better defenses...but he will also have much better than most ACC offenses to work with. To me...it is a wash. I expect similar numbers to what he put up at Wake Forest, and maybe a little better.

One was behind an eventual 1st round pick after breaking one's hand.

One will now be the 1st overall player taken in the draft, and one will eventually go undrafted.

Absolutely true, and my post was not intended to insinuate that Burrow was not good. Just that he might never have been given a chance to show what he could do and gain valuable experience.

Maybe on both points....and maybe not. And, had Burrow stayed at OSU he certainly would not have had the opportunity to MAYBE be the #1 player picked.

Hey...this is a thread intended to celebrate an LSU pickup. Unfortunately an LSU fan (TigerDon318), for whatever reason took the opportunity to take a shot at a Georgia player, and it got derailed.

Let's just say congrats to LSU for the pickup, and I sincerely hope he works out for you guys.

So, you don't see any similarities between the situation? I mean, the biggest difference is our QB has experience.

Hey...I'm not saying he is going to be great. far from it. My personal opinion is he will have similar numbers to what he had last year, but I am hoping for more. Especially with a new OC.

But seriously? You guys want to call him trash on here while forgetting three years ago you were in the same position with Burrow?

I’m sure your guy will do similar things as burrow. A very reasonable line of thinking. Very similar situations

Newman is going to be shocked at the caliber of defenses he will play in sec when he's used to playing the weak arse acc. His arm talent is ok and I don't see him being better than Fromm homestly.

Crap, dude. Reading is Fundamental. mind reading at least ONE of my posts? Just one. I have said over and over again that anyone that believes Newman will do what burrow did is stupid.

This is why LSU fans think Georgia fans are arrogant. because you don't bother what is actually said by georgia fans. You just assume what you want then run all over the place claiming we said something we did not.

I challenge you.....find where I said Newman would do what Burrow did in any of my posts. Just one.

I clearly said Newman would probably have similar numbers to what Newman did last year....and MAYBE a little bit better.

Please....would some LSU fan that can read please explain this to him?
