Per Brooks Hansen (Memphis 247 writer) regarding Mac McClung:
Auburn is in the lead as of today. But Memphis is involved. They’ll likely get an opportunity to have the same Zoom pitches as they did with DeAndre Williams.

Based on the posts from VOLS top insider, it’s an Auburn - Wake Forest battle.
He is not going to play for Penny lmmfao

Wake Forest is comparable to Georgetown academically so it probably comes down to how highly he values that vs winning.
Wake Forest has a tiny and boring campus so it's probably a plus for them if in-person visits can't be done before he has to decide

The appeal for Wake Forest is Steve Forbes.

Idk much about the guy but if he's their biggest draw then I gotta like Bruce Pearl's chances going head to head with their first year coach hired from East Tennessee State

He has a great relationship with Forbes from HS. Forbes recruited him hard and before he got Rutgers and GTown offers he was likely going to ETSU. Forbes is a very, very good recruiter.
Barnes not taking McClung will probably prove to be a mistake imo especially if he ends up in the SEC.

Forbes can easily go toe to toe with Pearl.

But I thought all Auburn fans watched college basketball before Pearl came to campus? Surprising they don’t know Pearl’s best assistant coach.

I think Forbes will have a tough time beating Bruce H2H here just due to circumstance and what Auburn can sell.
Not sure why Prick didn't take McClung just to keep him out of the league and stash him for next year. I assume Tennessee would not have wanted the waiver to be granted but I don't buy that McClung would scare off Chandler at all. Chandler is going to be the starting PG next year no matter what. Probably doesn't really hurt Tennessee's backcourt not to get McClung but Prick will feel some heat if he plays well against VOLS.

Only way Rick feels heat is if he doesn't get Chandler and then Maclung goes off on us. Maclung is a ball dominant guard. It's easy to see why the top PG in the nation wouldn't want to go to a team with a player like that becoming eligible. Takes the ball out of his hands too much.

I don't think we have a scholarship.

Could easily git Pember or even Uros.

Both need to be recruited over ASAP

You aren’t gonna get rid of Uros after 1 year with what he’s gone through. Then the other is a local kid after 1 year. Just bad optics for either. But I have no doubt this kid will go to a future opponent and go off against TN.

That’s a relief.

Smart move for that kid. Go the the best coach available and he might actually become efficient now. Cool dunks though.
