He was great in high school, but ended up going to Southern Miss, then Nichols State. He is now one of the best CBs in the NFL. Whats the story on him? Was it his size?

Size may have played a part in it, but based on conversations I've had with people that met him while at Nicholls, I don't think the guy can spell his own name.

Lots of late bloomers end up in the NFL. If you dont have great sophmore and junior seasons, you wont get a D 1 offer. Most D1 schools are finished before the senior years even start so that year is moot.

Some kid balls out his senior year and then continues to at USm or Wyoming or a school like that, the NFL will take them.

Hopefully De'Runnya is not one of these guys. Howard, Mcneil, Wilson = TripletTowers

From wikipedia...

quote:

Webb attended Beauregard High School in Alabama. Webb played both quarterback and defensive back in high school. As a junior, Webb rushed 1,011 yards with 12 touchdowns and passed for 731 yards and six touchdowns. On defense, he had 47 tackles, two fumble recoveries, and seven interceptions. In his senior season, Webb rushed for 738 yards with 15 rushing touchdowns and passed for 412 yards with four touchdowns. This was nearly enough to break Jesse Costa's record of 1,945 rushing yards for 19 touchdowns and 4,342 passing yards for 16 touchdown. On defense, Webb recorded 52 tackles, three fumble recoveries, and led the state of Alabama with 10 interceptions. For his efforts in high school football, Webb was named first team all-state defensive back for both his junior and senior year.< He was named Team MVP and participated in the Mississippi/Alabama All-Star Game.

looks like he was a high school standout. It very well might have been academics, though.

If he's from Beauregard, the likelihood of "can't spell his own name" goes way up.
