Out of the top 10 if you go by average on 247. Signing 33 makes it easier. It's a good class, but quantity and quality don't necessarily match (a lot of 4 star guys though)
You are correct. While it's a very good class, it is only top 10 due to quantity and not overall quality. It would be around 15 if you went by actually player average.
And yes I realize top 15 is still very good quality and better than our class at Arkansas.

The cincy fans up here say the same thing.

You are incorrect and don't understand how services work. They limit the players counted often to 20. Many don't count JUCOs. Most add bonuses for Top300/100/50 players and once again 247 has yet to update our class which would leapfrog a spot if they bothered to subtract -1 and use the actual total 32 not 33.

The player average rating was 89.34 (according to the 24/7 composite average). That would put UT's class at #13 nationally by player average. That would put UT behind Bama, LSU, aTm, UGA, AU and UF.
That being said...if you were going to field a football team, would you rather have 21 players with an average score of 90.7 or 32 players with an average score of 89.3? If you already have plenty of depth, then you can focus solely on individual player quality. If you need to add depth, then you need both quality and quantity.
UT had an excellent class. Most importantly...they filled spots of need.

Ha, this guy. The numbers actually make the average worse.
Again, like I said earlier. 18 commits 4* or higher. Only bama has more.
So, continue to hate if you'd like, but I recommend asking forgiveness for being a moron.

Well look at that. Not top 10.
Perhaps your fellow posters should learn how to sort a rankings list.

Again the 247 composite is counting a gray shirt. That gray shirt was once a 2* and is now a 3* just like with a GPA one grade can bring down your average. And that composite isn't up to date at ALL.

Ha, try to twist it however you want.
Fact Ranked #4 on Scout, #7 on 247, #5 on ESPN, #5 on Rivals.
If anyone wants to post their top 20 commits and compare to ours I would welcome it.
Sorry about yalls class hog. Ouch

Just wanted to point that out.

The hate would've been even greater of Pig would've held on the ball at the end of our game.
But, yeah, the hate is still pretty strong.

Y'all were pretty much kicking our arses right up to that point.
FWIW, I thought UTee was getting a lot better last season regardless of your recruiting. But with that class you brought in ....
Just glad the game is in Athens next season.

You know how far you have sunk as a program when you resort to bragging about wins over South Carolina

No doubt. Poor Pig, I felt so bad for him.
You know that's the only game I've ever witnessed fans give an ovation to players despite losing. I don't recall any game where fans stayed and just kept applauding and soaking it all up. There were even fans who waited outside Neyland to give the players another round of applause as they made their way back to the dorms. That game was heartbreaking but it was also wonderful. Years from now, I think it will be cited as the turning point that setup our return.
I know it sounds odd but I honestly don't think South Carolina ever had a chance due to what happened in the UGA game - some kind of magic was worked that night during that game and after it. The fans and players knew it too. The South Carolina was in lot of ways an extension of over time - a second chance at that heartbreaking play. And the team got enough from whatever mojo was unleashed from it that the next team up was pretty much destined to lose. I guess the best way I can describe it is that it was like that game unleashed the football version of a basketball shooter being 'in the zone' and unable to miss no matter what kind of shot they throw up or how unlikely it should be to make it except in our case it effected the entire team.
As to the hate being strong... I gotta be honest. I've always loved UT-UGA games. I love the stunts UGA always pulls pregrame, the taunts, the arrogance and all the things the Dawgs do to make me mad. I don't know what it is about the matchup that makes it special but they're always high energy and simply a lot of fun to watch and an absolute blast to participate in on gameday.

We'll holy shite, you signed the entire Southern Hemisphere. The only reason your top 10 is a numbers game.

Agreed. If there is any such thing as a good loss - that was it. Especially the way it was lost - on a high effort play that went bad because of the high effort.
I'm old enough to remember the '9 in a row' . Our sea-change happened at UT in Richt's first season when Green tossed the ball to the fullback in Richt's first year and we won in the last few seconds. We only won 8 that year, but it helped the players, fans and program start to believe.
I think UT's moment happened on Pig's herculean effort/fumble. Of course, 30 new stud recruits won't hurt.
