In the Spring game he didn't even wear a orange jersey to protect him like every other QB. They just ran him. He had a weaker arm and was fourth on the depth chart and was asked to move to WR because of his arm skills.
He wasn't promised a starting job for sure. Mullen didn't recruit a better Emory that way, he wouldn't have to this guy.
Who knows the truth behind the discipline so won't claim it's true or not. I do know he wasn't going to see the field for 2-3 years at QB. He probably thought he could edge out Emory and be number two then quickly realized he had no shot by his under performance in Spring practices and took issue with it would be my guess.
