I have no problem using smaller LBers. I actually prefer them. I'll take a smaller fast guy over a big slow guy any day, that is if the smaller guy can tackle which is what we have been missing. And Yox is very good at what he does. He has some different philosophies than most S&C coach but he's good.

We'll see about Yoxall. Good Auburn man but I think he is more concerned with conditioning than strength. That might not be a bad thing though so who knows..I just know we looked like a HS defense in size last year

"It doesn’t matter who’s running the ball, who’s catching it, who’s rushing the passer, or making the tackle – just as long as he’s got a blue jersey on.”

No we wont. He is one of the best at what he does and for years has been so. IF anyone is not sold on Coach Yox, then they dont know enough about what he does.

I don't know much about Yox, but I do know our guys seem weak during NFL tryouts.

This. He's been here longer than just about anyone on the staff, and there's a reason for it.

That is not his job.

He focused extra on conditioning the past few years but that was because of Malzahn's offense. They are still hitting the weights plenty. But I'm pretty sure I saw that he doesn't have them do bench because "you don't play on your back." I agree with it. Bench is pretty overrated when it comes to transitioning to the field. It's most important for the guys in the trenches but there are other things you can do.

I read that and it actually seemed to lack a little confidence for TT. He usually is cocky about it, but he said something like "These are 17-18 year old kids, so you never know".

I disagree, the author noted TT said Auburn would have a strong close weeks ago and was not backing down from that. I am not going to share everything, but suffice it to say Trooper feels we will be happy. He added the 17-18 yr old comment, because let's face it anything can happen with a teenager.

Our guys seem weak in nfl tryouts because Yox doesn't emphasize the bench press. It is a terrible measure of football strength and only useful when trying to get someone off of you

I went with my dad to the first year he was our S&C coach in 1999 and he shared that philosophy with us then. He has put a few OL in the NFL since I believe. He likes to focus more on the core and legs where he feels most of the control on the line comes from. So not sure if that is the best philosophy or not.

Our monster of a line last year seems to be a pretty good testament to it.

And Dismukes was named All-Freshmen after enrolling early. If it's not the best, it seems to be up there.
