A grey shirt is a FULL RIDE, A grey shirt doesnt have to enroll in the fall and can wait till January and then start school on a full scholarship and it doesn't cost anyone anything.

LSU greyshirt > Ole Miss fullride

Wrong, he took too long and we told him to look around. He's a great kid, just have a limited number of spots.

That's further from the truth than you believe! Ole miss would take his commitment tonight of he called up and wanted to commit

Nothing tells a kid "we want you at our school" like, "hey, can you wait until a few other guys make their decision and we'll think about giving you a scholarship?".

"Hey, Veronica...I'd really like to go out with you, but I'm still waiting to hear back from Jenny, Mary, Ashley, and Debbie. I'd rather go out with them, but if you're all that's left, I'm all about you."

Apparently you have some delusions about special arrangements, though.

You obviously don't know someone who has been recruited. So for sports other than football and basketball there are partial scholarships. So this is what happens, they offer the kid 25% and then say hey you have above a 1.0 we can get you academic money. The only caveat to academic money is you have to keep a certain gpa. So dmagic is right and what he is insinuating is not illegally paying his tuition but finding other ways to get the money to cover his tuition for the semester. Also there is a lot of need based grant money flying around.

Don't think any of this matters now, looks like he will get an offer today.

Absolutely incorrect. He had his chance and that ship has sailed.

So dmagic is right

No, he isn't. The guy who mentioned TOPS may be right, though. Riley probably qualifies for TOPS. That is not just for athletes though, same deal as any other decent student in LA gets - and it doesn't cover board, just tuition.

Bower told us definitely no? I heard he looked "disinterested."

I think we gave Eddie Jackson something to think about though.

IMO we should take Riley, and then if Jackson wants to come that's gravy.

Football has special rules about where the scholarship money can come (or not) to avoid being counted against the 85/25 limits.
