Why waste an academic scholarship on a kid that doesn’t want or deserve to be there

Because it's never been about the kids... their education... or anything else not named money. And if the majority of fans are being honest, they don't care significantly about any of that stuff either. They "care"... but only in the context of that caring being secondary to how much they care about winning...

UGA is a great place to get an education, and in fact, many of our athletes *do* take great advantage of it... but I'm not under any illusions that there aren't courses of study that are primarily kept in place so that athletes can stay eligible... and this is the case at (nearly) all schools.

It's not an academic scholarship. It's an athletic scholarship.

Wimp Sanderson, former Bama basketball coach, had the best answer. He was asked how many players graduated, he replied, "all of them that wanted to".

Yep. There's a reason why Ohio State backed off of Parsons.

Apparently it was because they had to...

Yea unless Parsons is a thug of some sort you take him. A little attitude won't hurt and if it does just dismiss him.

That tweet has been debunked already. There was a minor violation and it involved a dumbass former Buckeye who’s part of Gameday inviting Parsons onto the set during a commercial break.

However, that is not the reason that Ohio State backed off of Parsons. As stated earlier in the thread Parsons and his dad are a cancer. Wherever he goes he needs to be on a short leash.

Good to know. I was 100% joking. I know that one of the reasons was his tweets that went out while he was on campus. Agreed that if we take him, he's gonna need an upper class level "mentor" who can help to get him started right... and if he steps outta line in a substantive way... might have to cut bait. Don't see him in the class right now for us, but would be happy to be wrong. He's talented enough to take the chance I think.

OSU can't recruit Parson's. They've admitted to the violation.

Doesn't technically prevent him from signing with them (he won't, and they don't want him now), but it does look to be accurate. LINK

It’s like Emory Jones. Ohio State and Alabama were recruiting him like crazy and both seem to have backed way off. Something happened there. Did he just flirt so much that they both decided to look in other directions? It’s a bit weird that a late player seems poised to sign him now. Did he need to find a landing spot because schools got tired of him playing them? I’d love to know the full story.

All I know for sure is that I don’t expect to see him sign with Ohio State tomorrow and technically he’s been committed to them for nearly a year and a half and is still committed.

It's a legitimate story that has been confirmed by non-playoff bound ohio state.
