I'm talking about paying recruits, which is the topic of this thread. There aren't articles about that kind of stuff, just message board rumors.
In that post I had just read an ESPN article to educate myself about the LSU situation that the thread was about -- In fact I read the article because of the thread's existence, despite the fact that the story was months old. Meaning, I was oblivious for months to a story, published by a major news outlet, about an LSU player's family getting paid. So, thank you, Patty, for providing me the opportunity to better illustrate the point I was trying to make in my earlier post in this thread!

No. It's a message board (behind a paywall, at that), not a court of law or an NCAA hearing or even a newspaper. For all I know they could be dead on, or they could be completely full of it.
ETA: I don't have a subscription so I have no idea what they said or how they said it. Also not saying you shouldn't question them but I don't think posting about it here is going to get you any info.

That seems far fetched, but it is college football recruiting. Nothing would really surprise me.

I didn't really take that part literally. I assumed it was hyperbole. Again, I have only read the descriptions in this thread.
That's definitely a bolder claim if that's what he said but really, I have heard of so much corruption, cheating, and stupidity in my life that actually turned out to be real, that I can't say I'd be totally shocked if it was true. But based on the info I have right now (which is practically zero), I don't believe it happened that way -- doesn't pass the smell test.
