Is Sina pretty much out of the picture for us now? I'm thinking a good PG is as the top of the needs list for the next few classes as well.

No, he's not out of the picture, but we are definitely looking at different guards and people that decommit rarely end up committing back to that same school.

In an article from a few weeks ago, Ty Haughton discussed his official visit to USC and how Alabama and USC were his top two. I'm not sure when he's scheduled to visit us, but he'll be deciding in the early period. I don't know how good he is, but USC, Alabama, Va Tech, and UCONN are all recruiting him so I'll definitely take him. We need size in the worst way.

Along with Villanova and Rutgers, Alabama watched Jaren Sina workout today.

Willie Cauley committed to UK this morning. Not really a surprise, although I thought he'd stay home and go to KSU.

Here is what Greg posted: With Cauley's commitment to UK this morning, Alabama is still searching for its first commit in the 2012 class. Here are a few names to keep an eye on going forward: Charles Mitcell, Tevin Glass, Demetrius Henry, Tyrone Haughton and Staphon Blair.

The Crimson Tide's only real need in this year's class is at the four position. UA wants an athletic big man who can run the floor.

Ty Haughton to USC and Blair to UCF. I'm not sure who or where we will now turn to in this class. It's looking bleak at the moment

I really am starting to get the impression that they are saving one or two of these for next year's class. Maybe they feel like Engstrom will be ready to play significant minutes next year. I have a difficult time believing that no one would be interested in the readily available PT for any decent 4 or 5 next season if it were being seriously offered.

Any chance of bringing in a juco?

I would think that's probably our next best option

Jimmie Taylor will be in Tuscaloosa this weekend. I've also heard of a few other names but I'll wait to see if Greg can confirm them showing up before I say it. I don't like being wrong

Jimmie Taylor was there. Devonta Pollard, Demetrius Houston, and Craig Victor were also reported to be there. I think we are the only SEC school not to have a 2012 commitment/signee.

I really don't understand why we can't find anyone who wants to see easy minutes as a freshman. Our true 4s/5s next year will be Engstrom, Gueye, and Jacobs. Worst case scenario for any decent big would be 10-15 minutes a night as a freshman.

Craig Victor is going to be ours

He was pulling for us in the game vs LSU and he's from LA

He's a 2014 recruit. Slow your roll a little bit. We could both have new coaches by that time. That's an eternity. I'm sure college football games have big impacts on sophomore college basketball players.

You made me very sad by saying that

Yeah 2014 is a long way off but you can never start connections too early.

Well no shite. Nothing wrong with optimism, and the comment on the game is not the reason i think we're his early favorite
