Looks like Shannon Hale has put on some muscle at his new school in North Carolina

He looks college ready from a physical standpoint.
Hopefully he can come in and give us some help inside. He's up to 6'8" now isn't he? Maybe he will hit a late growth spurt. I know he's a pretty good shooter. I'd like to have a big guy who can play on the perimeter and open the lane up for the guards.

I'm thinking he is. Hopefully he can get another inch or so. He had a bad summer but has had a great year in highschool ball. Hopefully he'll keep improving.

Here's what Dan McDonald told me about DeVon Walker:Good player. Athletic, good size for a wing. Can get to the rim. From what I remember, he's just an average shooter. Not great, but not bad.

Quotes from Devon Walker on BOL.
quote:
"It was good. They made me comfortable. It wasn't like they were trying to force anything and everything went smooth. It was a good college visit with and without basketball," said Walker.
"When I was on campus, we went over some academics, toured the facilities and campus, went and had dinner with the team, went to the game, and hung out with the team some more."
quote:
"I love their playing style. They're uptempo and get up and down the court, but pull it back out when they have to, so that's good to me. I love the coaches and the mentality they have. They let their players play. I think they see me playing a combo for them. Probably the biggest assistant recruiting me is Coach (Tony) Pujol and then Coach Grant is recruiting me at the same time.
"I mean Coleman Colesium is great. The fans are crazy and diehard. It was just a great atmosphere. Just the general support that the basketball team gets- like people asking for pictures and stuff like that. That's what stood out the most."
quote:
"This was my second official visit. I took one to UCF earlier. I don't have other visits planned but will take some after the season. I'm also looking at UF, Clemson, and Kansas State. I think all of them are on an even level. All of them have been recruiting me pretty hard."
quote:
"Number one would have to be academics. Number two would be who could help me become the best potential athlete as far as helping the team. Third is just being comfortable wherever I'm at."

It would be nice to grab him. He fits the same mold as Cooper and Randolph. Having 2 or 3 long athletic guard/forward types on the court at all times = a press from hell.

Exactly. Or just have an arsenal of them to continually sub in and out. I hope he chooses us. With the schools going after him, he's definitely a high major player.

Now we just need to beat State on Saturday, end Stansbury, punch our ticket to the Dance, and make Pollard's decision for him.

This is from Jerry Meyer's recruiting mailbag:
Alabama's strategy
What's your take on Alabama not signing anybody this year and will they sign a need, which is a power forward, maybe from a juco?
- Mike from Haleyville
Alabama has remained steadfast in the pursuit of its prized recruiting target Devonta Pollard. A top 10 prospect, Pollard can play either forward position and would definitely fill a need on Alabama's roster.
Landing Pollard, however, will be no easy feat. In-state school Mississippi State has Pollard targeted. He is also a recruiting target of Texas, Missouri and Georgetown. Kentucky is in the mix as well.
Alabama also is recruiting Rivals150 power forward DeVon Walker out of Winter Haven (Fla.) High School. Walker visited Alabama last weekend and is a back-up recruit if the Tide misses on Pollard and/or Tony Mitchell doesn't return next year.
Athletic three-star small forward Marcel White of Lake Wales (Fla.) High School is also on Alabama's recruiting radar.

Well Green is the only guy graduating, so this was always going to be a 1 person class. At most a 2 person class.
2013 will be roughly the same unless someone transfers. 10 of our 13 scholarship players are freshmen or sophomores.

IDK about that. Im willing to bet that room wouldve been made if we had got Cauley and Pollard.
