4-star DE Jarrell Cherry signs with LSU

With the signing of Jarell Cherry, LSU officially put its biggest catch of the early signing period on the roster for next season.
The four-star defensive end out of Dallas was the Tigers' highest rated commitment since giving his intentions to join the program back in April following an unofficial visit to Baton Rouge. Cherry was also on campus in October for the Auburn game in which LSU erased a 20-point deficit to defeat its division rival.
Cherry is projected to shift to the B-linebacker position in the wake of the Arden Key's expected departure for the NFL following the end of the season.
Cherry was recruited by coach Dennis Johnson. Johnson was the outside linebackers coach for the Tigers before defensive line coach Pete Jenkins announced his retirement last month, prompting Johnson to take his place.
Cherry spurned offers from 19 different schools in favor of LSU, including Alabama, Michigan, Oklahoma, Texas and Texas A&M, among others. Cherry never wavered from his commitment to the Tigers.

I just love the defensive guys we picked up. Coach O and company did some serious work. The ranking might not show it but I just love this class!

I like this class so far, and we arent done yet. I fully expect us to end this class with the bigtime guys we still have on our board. This is going to end up being a great class as usual. Great job by O and this staff.
