Profile Highlights

quote:

Tuscaloosa (Ala.) Hillcrest running back Brian Robinson, a 2017 four-star prospect, committed to the Crimson Tide just two months after earning an offer. Robinson made headlines in September when he broke the Alabama 6A single game rushing record running for 447 yards and five score in a game against state power Clay-Chalkville.

He's the 3rd RB for Alabama in that class.

I live here and know someone on the Hillcrest staff... Was super pumped that he committed.

His stock is on the rise. Hillcrest plays at undefeated Opelika this Friday. Opie beat them 34-20 in the first game of the year and was able to contain Robinson. I'm anxious to see how he does in the rematch.

It will be tough to hang on to all three, but the need to do so depends on who Alabama is able to sign in the '16 class and how the young RBs develop that are currently on the roster.

Was there any doubt he would commit to Alabama? Most kids that live in an SEC town end up playing at that school. I know that we don't lose any Oxford kids we want. Columbia(s) and Nashville are exempt because they're bigass cities.

It happens occasionally. Markus Manson was one of the most sought after recruits from Tuscaloosa over the last 10-15 years. He signed with Florida in 2004. A lot of that had to do with coaching changes and probation for Alabama at the time, but he still left. Though he never made an impact at UF. Eventually moved from RB to safety.

I had a class with Markus at Hillcrest. He didn't have the work ethic to be great.

I believe Robinson is a better back based on film and watching him live. That 2004 class at Hillcrest had three guys sign with Alabama, one of which was Cody Davis (LT that allowed Markus to look as good as he did).

That 2004 signing class was solid, considering all that went on. Several guys that would play a key role in Saban's first two years in 2007-08.

Cody Davis never could stay healthy. Travis Robinson caught the injury bug too. Jake Wingo never got a chance with three concussions his freshman year.
