Bateman was the MVP over Swoopes (Texas commit), Barrett (Ohio State commit), Morris (Michigan commit), Kohl Stewart (Texas A&M commit), and Austin Allen.

If anything, you gotta be impressed with Bateman's ability to rise to the occasion and outplay several highly recruited kids, some of whom are currently rated higher than him.

That Columbus event was no where near as competitive as the Dallas event though. Hell, I would venture to say that the Atlanta event was more competitive than the Columbus one.

I agree. It was more about how he looked from what the scouts said. It will be interesting to see how he does at the big one.

Let's discuss a position that hasn't gotten much play in this thread (which is amazing seeing as we are pushing 500 pages) NG:

We don't have any legit prospects for the NG position at the moment. I know we didn't even know Darren Lake's name before last summer, but we are going to be dangerously thin at that position after this year.

I was under the impression that the main reason Alphonse Taylor switched to us this spring was because he didn't want to play offense, yet he has apparently switched to OG when we promised him a spot on the DLine.

I know NG is a tough spot to recruit, but without a dominate NG our defense struggles, see 2010 as evidence.

Does anyone have any potential targets for the NG position? I sure as shite haven't been able to find one.

I guess that's a big "NO."

I think we'll see Taylor back at NG in the fall, depth should be arriving for OL in Hill and Greene, along with potentially Ball and Gulledge.

I've heard it might be the JuCo route again, which you can't find anything about right now. Rod Crayton is an option if they ok him for an offer. Darrion Hutcherson said Crayton is a big Bama fan, but who knows if being shunned so far has led him to look out of state.

Ok, to spark conversation give us your predictions on who we close out with in this class.

Here is mine:

QB-Cooper Bateman 4 star
RB/Ath-Alvin Kamara 4 star
OL-Tyrone Crowder 4 star
TE-Josh McNeil 4 star
DE/OLB-Jonathan Allen 5 star
OLB-Matthew Thomas 5 star
WR-Robert Foster (we may the only school that will actually take his commitment) 5 star
DE-DeMarcus Walker 4 star
DE-Henry Poggi 4 star
CB-Brendan Langley 4 star
CB-Maurice Smith 4 star
OLB/HB-Walker Jones 3 star

Oh yeah...and DE/OLB Robert Nkemdiche 5 star

That would be a killer 25, with maybe a JUCO NG added in like Magilla eluded to earlier.

I guess Foster smoothed stuff over with osu and has an offer again.

I saw that Josh McNeil was added to the UA AA game, don't know if posted.

I also saw "BamaUndercover" tweet that McNeil thought Bama is only looking to take 1 TE in this class. Don't really know what that means or where it's from...

Well technically, OJ Howard is not a traditional TE like McNeil, so maybe he is correct.

Magilla, add to the class prediction movement I'm trying to get off the ground.

I don't know if "traditional" fits McNeil either. 1 year of football with a basketball background, not a blocker and is raw in his route running.

Plus this was in the TideSports article that he named Bama his leader, really muddles things:

quote:

Saban is impressed with the 6-foot-5, 235-pound tight end and sees him as someone who could make an immediate impact at the H-Back position.

"He said I would get a chance to play," McNeil said. "And not only secondary reps; the tight end they have now would be a senior, so when I get there I would be competing for a starting spot."

I'll try, but you've taken the wind out of it by being 1st

Now everyone has to slightly change it to be different from yours...

Not at all, they could throw out the top 25 on 24/7 for all I care. I'm just trying to drum up good conversation in this dead period of recruiting.

That being said, what do you think about my prediction?
