Even if we don't get Bateman, Ferguson is a solid back up plan.
I've been a staunch supporter of Austin Allen for awhile now, but given his father is a member of Arkansas' staff, I've never thought we had much of a chance at him.
However, if we miss out on Bateman (I think we get him) I would love for us to say "frick it," and put the full court press on Allen.
I think Ferguson likes us the most out of the available QBs though, so I wouldn't bitch too much if he ended up being our QB in this class.

Yep. Bateman is definitely the top target, but we have showed a lot of attention to Ferguson as well, and they both will be coming to camp in June.

Out of those two let's hope that Bateman comes in first and commits on the spot (assuming he is given a full committable offer).

Allen is an intriguing prospect and it looks like he does not want to sit behind his brother. But it looks like we will be landing our QB for this class pretty soon anyway.

Watch film on both Allen and Bateman. Allen, at least to me, is the more talented of the two (right now). The thing that separates the two of them is Bateman has more upside.

IIRC Bateman is visiting either the 1st or 2nd weekend in June and then going to the elite eleven and hopes to have a decision somewhere in there. It definitely goes in our favor that we are his last visit though, and he's bringing his parents and head coach. That weekend could be a very exciting weekend for us Bama fans.

I'll have to watch some more film on Allen. I do like Bateman's upside and his arm strength, but in his film it looks like he just likes to sling it down field a lot. I'm curious to see if he is capable of making all the throws (which I think he is capable of doing), I would just like to see a little more from him.

Like I said, and Charles Powers from BOL agrees with me, if Allen's father and brother weren't a part of the Arky program, his recruitment would be completely different.
Allen actually has film of him taking snaps from under Center, whereas Bateman has 20 minutes of highlight film and zero snaps under Center.
Allen may actually have a stronger arm if you can believe that. He's more mature, physically, than Bateman as well.
Allen does an offer to come throw in camp for us, so the possibility is there.

Actually, I'm not. Give me a minute and I'll post my analysis on both of them from over 2 months ago.

Austin Allen:

Even though he doesn't currently have an Alabama offer, I think I like Allen the most out of the QBs I've looked at today. He's built like a college player already, although he is shorter than the other 3 players. He has very good footwork and a live arm. He is elusive when the pocket breaks down and he can throw well on the move. He has very good mechanics as well, almost as good as Hackenberg.

Skinny kid. Good arm. Has better footwork than Burns, but again, another QB that's not usually working from under Center. If I had to pick between Bateman and Burns, I would pick Bateman. So he gets a:

ARLINGTON, Texas -- It was one of the best Elite 11 fields the Dallas regional event has seen in recent years.
Class of 2014 quarterback Kyle Allen showed a compact release and impressive velocity on Saturday
With Cowboys Stadium as the backdrop, Saturday's event featured multiple quarterbacks committed to some of the top college football programs in the country and holding multiple BCS conference offers.
At the end of the day, only one was good enough for the 247Sports staff to select them as the MVP of the event.

247Sports Elite 11 MVP:Cooper Bateman, Salt Lake City (Utah) Cottonwood
From start to finish, Bateman showed the skill set of a top pro-style quarterback in the class. He delivers the ball without wasted motion, can change ball speeds in drills and showed the ability to throw the ball with as much velocity as needed. Overall, we felt Bateman was the best quarterback in a talent field of prospects. Utah, BYU, Alabama, Auburn, Florida and LSU are among the favorites to land Bateman.
Bateman was the MVP over Swoopes (Texas commit), Barrett (Ohio State commit), Morris (Michigan commit), Kohl Stewart (Texas A&M commit), and Austin Allen.

Morris had a bit of a break down at that event. Ended up crying. He just won MVP at the Columbus event last weekend though. The Scout writers said he will likely get a 5th star when they re do the rankings.
